YAY: I can use headlights without blowing fuses. .. and the horn also now goes "Merrrrp merrrrp" (kind of like a European See-And-Say)

HOWEVER,
When the car is OFF the key is OFF and I (accidentally) engage the RIGHT turn signal, the RIGHT park and tail lights come on. . and (I think) the same with the LEFT.

Also, the headlights would not work with the wires hooked to the proper locations (according to a thread on here).

I'm wondering if my switch is "ker-flooey" and needs replacement?

Or do I have the only 914 that was worked over by Lucas Electrical?

This is one of the Euro things that carried over.

In Europe furing that period the streets were narrow (stilll are). By leaving the L or R signals on when you left the car it meant that you would return shortly, and marked the car from being hit.

Kust don't leave it on overnight.

I'm not sure which thread you are refering to, but I found the wiring diagram was in error on two spades.

I made up a revised wiring diagram for the late switch

Reposted..... smile.gif I had a switch with all the wires still attached and went through all the circuits with a continuity tester.

Does that wiring work on a 1973 car? I'm a bit confused about the "early" and "Late" thing

It's a parking light option. All European cars have it. Or at least used to, not sure about brand new cars, might have changed by now.

It's a handy feature, why would you want to remove it?

Hah, I remember posting the same concern about the turn signal. Then I went on to embarrass myself further by posting concerns over the locking differences between the R & L doors. headbang.gif

Count the connectors, if it's 11, yes; if 10, no. They are pretty similar IIRC
