I am intending to make an engine/tranny dolly for my 74 1.8 to mount the power plant when I pull it. I also intend to use it as an engine test stand.

I intend to make it from square tube steel and to run on castors.

I need the following dimensions
centre to centre engine mount holes across the body (front and rear)
centre to centre engine mount holes length ways

I would appreciate any help

is your engine carbed or fuel injected?

the later is far more work to run out of car.

get a furniture dolly for $20 - entire engine and trans assy will fit on it nicely - then you can pull your dimensions from it so you can fab up something that will allow you to run engine with exhaust on it.

That's what I use...dropped my engine with one and have my trans sitting on one after separating (waiting to be mated back up some day)

Why not buy a $50 cracked none repairable core for real time measurements

This is how I did it. Super simple. All made from scrap.

Roll it under the car, jack up the engine, DONE.

And you can run the engine on it too.

first run in 2008. Horrible video quality, but you get the idea.

Thanks for all the contributions. I will 'blend' all the ideas together.

That is why this forum is so good. I am on the underside of the world and appreciate the info from you all on the topside.
