Hey Teeners...been a long time since I've been on here. Need some quick help on two accounts:

1. Looking at buying a '74 914 2.0 Liter via the internet and wanted to know how I can confirm the car is a 2.0 Liter. Can this be done by looking at the engine? The engine code? Vin number?

2. Looking for a Porsche 914 mechanic in the Phoenix area that can inspect the car I have a deposit on before I complete the sale sometime tomorrow or Friday (10.04 or 10.05).

Let me know your thoughts....thanks!!! John

I'd recommend moving this post to the Garage.

As for a 2.0, I believe the engine case numbers start with "GA", but a stock 2.0 has the spark plugs low near the intake manifold while a stock 1.7 and 1.8 have them higher up on the engine (as looking at the cooling tins). Sorry I don't have pictures handy.
