I am preparing to install a head temp sensor from VDO. Does one like to run hotter than the rest like a Type I? Even a little bit?

Milt, on my race car we found #2 ran slightly hotter than the others by pyrometer reading. It was also the cylinder we kept breaking valve on. I have the 911 fan set so I think the front cylinders get slightly less air than the rear. Good luck.

Have a 76 2.0 Djet, I have my vdo CHT hooked up to the 3rd cylinder.

Zeke, you probably already know this, but the stock location is on the third cyl. If you have a pyrometer, drive the car around and see if there is a cylinder that runs hotter than the others. Maybe place it there...??

can you hook up the cht sensor to the combo gauge?

like use the oil temp module for the cht?
Zeke
I don't thiiiiinnnk so. The CHT guage goes to 600*
Ouch! Anyway, guages and sensors are a matched pair from what I know.
StratPlayer
You might be able to do that,, instead of using an oil temp gauge use a cht gauge using this guys method, the gauges are the same size. Just might work, just 2 wires coming from the gauge itself.

well, what about the non numbered oil temp module?
calibrate it for the gauge?
