What do you have to do to mount a 1974 2.4 6cylinder engine the the 914? Do the engine mounts line up perfectly? Does the 901 transmission work on it?? Please give me all of the details!!!!!

Are you competent enough to do a clutch on a 914-4. If you answer is yes, then I would say you can do it. If no then, you know!

What's your budget? Now double it.....

First you have to find a '74 2.4 6-cylinder engine. Now, '74 was the first year of the 2.7 for the 911 engine, that's going to be some trick. Of course, if you mean a 2.4 engine from some non-Porsche, that's a different issue, and probably means fitting a radiator...



Seriously, do a search. Six conversions are discussed often and at length. Fitting any 911 engine from '65 to '77 will be roughly the same amount of effort.

Roughly $4500 in conversion parts to go to a six motor if you use all new parts. If you are a swapmeet louie and know how to cobble shit together you can do it for way cheaper.

Funny you mention a 2.4 liter, I saw one for sale today for 1500 bucks. I didnt think they were very common.

Look for a conversion already completed and if you can afford it buy it. Also look at a V8 drive it and make your decsion.

There is a ton of help here on the list. Once you find an engine, the rest is easy. There are tons of part avaible from people here including PP, Rich, myself etc. It just depends on your budget.
