It was good air cooled driving weather today. Sunny and 45. Went for a parts/cigar run in the 911. When I got back I had time so I ran the 914 too. Wanted to get one more drive in before the snow flies tonight.
Having a 911 reinforces my desire for a 914 with more power. Which is why I bought my /6. Perfect mix of the two.
I'll add a picture in a minute.

Reminds me, i need to get the 914 out from under the cover to stretch her legs.
An a cigar run sounds like the perfect excuse for just that!

Forgot to mention, I experienced classic 911 lift throttle over steer. Just a tad. Let off the gas on purpose in a nice local back road s-curve. About 50. Back stepped out just a hair, rear tires squealed and that was the end of that.

Had I been going 20 mph or so or faster, it might have been another story.

I love Porsches and I love cigars, so tomorrow I'm driving up (in my buick) to see about a 914. I need a small sports car again. My current ride is a mint BMW 635 Euro. Nice, needs nothing, that's why I'm looking for a fixer upper, running 914. Wish me luck.

If you're looking, you might also want to check with Brad Mayeur at 914Ltd. In Peoria, IL. He often has lines on nice cars in the Midwest.

We never got any snow here last night, but it was only 25 degrees out this afternoon. Took a while to get the 911 up to 180. Once I got it there, I drove it... hard. Kinda trippy... That 2.7 isn't super quick, but if you wind it all the way up you can get everything out of it. Goes pretty good!

Hey, Gaspump, I happen to notice recently that Brad Mayeur in Peoria does indeed have several 914s for sale. If you check over on thesamba.com, his cars are listed under the seller name 914 LTD

Hey Bob,
I'd love to see you sell your car, but would you not try to sell it in my thread? Gaspump knows you have it for sale, you know he's looking for a 914. You two please take it offline or post and chat in a classified ad. I'd appreciate it. Thanks
Edit: Here you go, he's posted a thread about the car he looked at today. Fire away!

Brian is a nice guy, will give you a head start getting her

. Make sure you talk to Randy next door, super cool dude, he drives a yellow 74 with a 3.2, has a early Turbo, and two early 911's... What time you dropping off?

I have to say that, as much as I love my teener, I miss my 93 CIS T more. Dumbest thing I did was to parts with it. Said the same thing about my 70 E. Apparently I'm stupid.

On Shar's way to work. Then I'll double back in her car when he opens at 08:00. I'll call you tomorrow. Wanted to ask you a couple of Q's anyway,
My sister is in town form Chicago. We spent all afternoon and evening driving to Boulder and back to my house and then out to Westminster and back in the 911. Interesting car to drive around town. Got another thumbs up. And a lady at the gas station, "That's beautiful. What is year is your 911? I learned to drive in my mother's 356." You know, the kind of stuff you here driving any old Porsche around town. She was 15 feet away, so worst case it's a 15 footer.

iPhone right? You need to tap the area where you want to focus. The last picture as an example. Try again and tap the end of the shift knob on the screen. The camera will then auto focus and it will correct the light for that object. Good luck. Also, look for apps like Instagram for great filters and tilt shift effects.

Hi Chris, that was not me, I have only had the car since July of 2011 and was purchased from out of state from a long time owner.

I have a 993TT and recently added a 73 2.0 914. I love them both, but they are very different driving experiences. Different tools for different jobs! Going from 450hp to 95 requires the brain to recailbrate the perception of speed. I used to think the 993 provided a visceral experience, but after driving the 914, the Turbo feels like a luxury car!

Nice looking car! I remember when the big bumper, short hood 911s fist came out in 1974. I thought they were the ugliest thing I had ever seen. Now, with all the intervening years having passed, they don't look so bad anymore, and have a better chance of surviving today's SUV/cell phone idiot drivers.
After having both 914s and 911s, I ended up keeping the 914s as I also like to remember the childhood go-cart I loved. However, I do keep looking for another 911 as another daily driver. As all of today's cars are rolling computers, I like the relative simplicity of the Porsches.

Thanks George. Me too. But now they're the cheapest 911 out there. And this one is a 75 also, so it's smog exempt. I've been driving this every day for the last... almost two weeks.
