Apparently, I have a problem with my starter/flywheel. Seems my starter did not disengage and after a crashing sound, the car decided to stop. When I tried to start, I got a clicking sound as if the battery was dead. i charged battery and same condition. I have not pulled the starter yet, but I suspect I may have damaged the ring gear as well.
My plan is to remove the starter and push start to make sure the engine still runs ok.
Would appreciate any insight anyone may have as this is my 1st 914

thanks

Hard to say what damage until you pull the starter, hopefully just damaged starter, but possibly broken teeth on the flywheel, from what you describe.

Good luck and post pictures of what you find....and your car.

Hopefully it is only your starter and not your flywheel.
