You can now order the period correct plates for your car through the CA DMV. I just completed the form to order the blue/yellow for my car so I have an official set of plates 71 SIX like my avitar. $50 and once they hit 7500 orders it is a done deal. I would jump on this while they are willing to do it.

7500 in 2 years? I dont think they will have a problem hitting that in 1 month if word gets out

so they dont send them out until they have 7500 orders?

Are these going to be the plastic versions ? I was told the aluminum plates are going to be history soon. sad.gif

PSS - Thanx toCairo for digging this up & posting it. I'd heard about it, but not that they actually passed the bill & started the program pre-orders. smilie_pokal.gif

No - as soon as they hit 7500, then 6-12 months to produce them thereafter - whenever it is that they hit 7500.

So no rush, & it does no good to hid this program because they''l cancel it if they do not get 7500 by 2015.

Plus they start sooner - the sooner they get to 7500!

So spread the word all around! biggrin.gif type.gif

Go for it folks!!!!

PS - The form gives the choice to pick them up at the AAA office of your choice - avoiding DMV mess, but you can't order them there, by mail seems best.

It also says they're reflectorized in the FAQs - so I'll probably stick with my original blue/gold for my 73 914-2.0 & just clean them up, but since the form includes trailers, we may get a gold/black one for my wife's new toy - a restored vintage 1960 Avion T20 travel trailer (sim. to Airstream), unless we locate a cherry vintage plate from 1960 for the DMV's YOM program instead. idea.gif

They no longer sell CA plates from the website Jim. Too many legal issues apparantly.

I'll be purchasing a set of blue plates for my car, and a 50's set for my brother's truck.. hopefully these get done up soon.

Haha, no. I'd still like the old, original plates if you can find them. I have a '71 2002 that could use them.

how did it come out?

LicensePlates.TV no longer makes CA plates- believe me I tried hard to get them to just make me a second plate to match the one they did make me. BTW they made excellent replica plates.
