NAPA sells small boxes of the clamps at a good price. They have 10 in the box. The part number is 705-1226

my local napa guy had no idea what i was talking about when i asked him about them the other day. i should have brought an example with me.

I get 'em at the local chain parts places all the time. Haven't check NAPA, but I never had to because the others have them.

I believe they are called fuel injection hose clamps vs. just a hose clamp. I also have been able to by at local FLAPS.

Those clamps, the Napa photo and the German, both work the same way. The only difference is the thickness of the band material, and I don't see how that could affect performance or damage the hose. Same width and surface area.

Whew, Nine 14, you had me worried there. I have three or four BMW's in the garage with those Napa fuel line clamps. Couldn't deal with any more balls of fire between my legs.

The Mechanics are directed, not to use those clamps in the fi system and i do
same.

At least we are talking about an product with worth of a few cent.

The second photo there shows something more like "constant torque clamps." I use them for everything with larger than 1" diameters. Much stronger than fuel injection hose clamps or radiator hose clamps, but the range of diameter is much smaller and they take a while to thread on or off. So you really need to know the exact size of initial free outer diameter and how far it down it should clamp before you buy them because they're spendy. But it's total clamp porn. I get them at the local Aeroquip dealer here in Portland.

Having said that, fuel injection hose clamps are perfectly suitable for fuel injection hose clamping.

The "real" FI clamps have rolled edges, not flat like the ones pictured. While better than the worm screw type, they're still not right.

Last time I bought a box was for the numerous venting hoses coming off the Vanagon gas tank.

Pretty disapointed when a year later I found out that EVERY hose clamp had fractured, and all were hanging loose. I just love doing things twice.

ok - napa does have them - in 3 sizes

i just got some clamps for 9.5mm rubber hose (3/8 hose) - pn 705-1227 (large)

the pn for 5/16 rubber hose is 705-1226 (medium) (they were out of stock at 2 napa locations)

and one smaller size.

I agree with the Cap'n. I sure wouldn't use the ones in the pictures with FI. If they don't have the rolled edges they can bite into your fuel lines. I didn't have a problem finding clams with rolled edges at FLAPS last time I looked. Have they become scarce?

I had the same issue.
After spending over $10 a foot for the best fuel line you can get, I decided I shouldnt use 10-cent hose clamps.
