If you spin the rear wheel (car jacked up of course) and the wheel on the other side spins the opposite direction, is that just how all of them work, or is that only if there is a limited slip in there???
Full Version: LSD or Normal tranny?
That is an open diff, on a lsd both wheels will spin in the same direction.

That is a common 'open' style differential. An LSD or 'Posi' style would have both wheels turn in the SAME directions be it forward or reverse when rotated by hand with the car on jacks.

given that the tranny would be in neutral, a limited slip would turn in the oposite if the tranny is in gear but with some resistance depending of the type of limited slip [loose term for this thread] the common friction clutch type will give a good amount of resistance.
