I ended up with 4-5 of these strange Earl's fittings and I'm not sure if I can use them with standard SS braided hose:

Does anyone know anything about these and if they can be used with standard SS braided hose?

That's what they're made for, should be no problem, just be careful cutting the hose.

the old days high pressure AN lines you had to skive the rubber portion. No longer

Putting braded lines together with fittings can be a challenge. Strongly suggest looking around the web and checking out the videos of other people doing this. Bunch of tricks to make it easier.

One of the places where I bought fittings <http://www.anplumbing.com/> has some great technical video's that are a must see before trying it yourself.

You might be tempted to use the woven cloth covered lines as I was (light weight) but I ended up blowing a line to my front oil cooler. Ugly. In simple terms they fail as soon as a few strands get cut, which is easy in a teener given where we run lines. even with rubber protection on firewalls. wacko.gif

Randal,

I have a TON of AN fittings installed already...

But, if you look closely at this fitting it's a bit different. I believe if it's the fitting I think it is, it is designed to cut the rubber to make effectively two seals. Seems like a giant pain the ass to me, so I just ordered a standard, Russel 45 degree -10AN fitting.

I'll probably sell these off for cheap if someone wants to play with them...
