Interesting... Did a google search and came up with some funky results

Try it yourself. Google 91450125911GRV which is a 914 rear sway bar mount tab

You get 6 pages of bs.gif

Of course there is a few listings by AA. Then there are the others

Buy xxx xxx xxx at 944-parts.com

Same type of listing and web page with the following web links

Used-944parts.com
914parts.com
Partsfor944.com
914used.com
914part.com
porsche-993-parts.com
911-wheel.com
porsche-912-parts.com

All pages are the same crappy design that basically says "search for part #xxx xxx xxx

Very common tactic to increase your rating within Google search results.
There's a whole industry around that called SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

In short, the more websites out there link to your site (in this case AA main website) the higher you rank with Google.

So people setup "mirror" sites that simply link back to their main site to generate fake exposure.

PS: It's the same reason you see so many spam posts on forums. The links in the spam posts count towards the targets overall Google score and gives them a boost in the Google search results.

But 9 of them?

I can understand DNS forwarding but

There are few choices out there. Every web parts seller has "parts" they just do not know anything about about them or what they really fit. My personal favorites are the ones with generic pictures. It makes you real confident in what is for sale.

Just 9? That's nothing ...

The big players in the industry have thousands of mirror websites.

SirAndy's right. I work at a web site design/development company and I HATE doing SEO barf.gif
I recently finished up a project with 16 keyword sites blink.gif Each site built around a set of keywords. All links go back to the main site. Each has its own blog setup. Created individual Facebook and Twitter accounts for each and those are autofed blog posts. wacko.gif
