I am going to be in a parade on the Sunday after Thanksgiving here in Noblesville Indiana. I am looking for a convertible anything to ride in for the parade. Does anyone out there have a convertible that would be willing to come drive it that day for the parade? Of course the reason I am in the parade is that I just won a pageant 2 weekends ago. So I will be riding and of course waving smile.gif It doesn't have to be a porsche, any convertible will do, unless of course you want to drive your porsche biggrin.gif Anyway, I would be most appreciative to ANYONE that could help me out.
Thanks! Hubby would have driven his ....if his was running.
TheCabinetmaker
Com'n Indiana guys. Don't ya want a beuautiful woman sitting on your targa bar?

I've drove mine in a parade and a high school homecoming. It was a blast.
MrsPnambic
Thank you! I would think it would be great to get to drive your cars again one more time. A parade isn't so bad since you can drive with the top down and not be frozen from going 60 mph. It isn't a very long parade either, and doesn't start early in the morning like some do. And of course a sign can be put on the car saying that the club was helping me out by sponsoring the car! smile.gif
seanery
Leah, what if you sat on the roof of the Durango!? biggrin.gif
MrsPnambic
Hey at this point I will take whatever I can get! That is the closest thing I have gotten to an offer yet! smile.gif I just can't sit on our Buick or our Saturn, but a Durango might work! smile.gif Are you offering? biggrin.gif
SLITS
Why don't you have the icon8.gif Durango tow the Teener and you can sit in the teener? lol2.gif
Pnambic
hahaha, I told her I'd let her push my teener, but she said no... confused24.gif laugh.gif
MrsPnambic
Problem with that is the fact that somehow he would have to get his non working car down here so it could be pulled by the durango. smile.gif So that won't work. I don't really want to walk and carry my sign in the parade so I really need to get a vehicle to ride on. smile.gif

That's what tow dollys and trailers are for!!!!!!
MrsPnambic
If I had either of those I wouldn't have a problem....but I don't.
Pnambic
Hmmm....with a little bit of Duct Tape, JB Weld, some WD-40 and a whole buncha posterboard, I could put something together that looks like a teener....a little....it'll look like a convertible anyway.... wink.gif

Mrs P,

Have you considered calling the local car dealerships and
see if they would supply a ride for the parade? They could promote the dealership at the same time.
mudfoot76
If I was not going to be out of town for that weekend, I would gladly have you sit on my targa bar for the parade.

Actually, if there was some way to work it out, I guess I could still supply my 'teener to you unsure.gif
MrsPnambic
I haven't had a chance to talk to any dealerships yet. I have been sick for the last few days (going to the doctor tonight and hoping it isn't strep throat) and with the kids around, it is quite hard to talk on the phone and sound respectable. So I thought I would try all you WONDERFUL guys! wink.gif
MrsPnambic
Well...calling the dealerships is on hold at the moment. My throat is so sore and tonsils are red and swollen. Does anyone have any connections at any dealerships that I could try when I can talk?

Or anyone out there MAYBE interested in doing the parade? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese?
mudfoot76
When you are feeling better, try Ooley & Blackburn. I know a few CIR-PCA members who've bought cars there, as well as a few co-workers. If this parade is part of a community/charity event, perhaps they will be interested in helping out.

If you would give some more detail on the event, I'd be happy to contact them for you.
MrsPnambic
Thanks so much! At this point, I am desperate and will take whatever I can get, even if that means I am sitting on a blanket in the bed of a pickup truck! smile.gif If I can't even get that, then it wasn't meant for me to do this parade and then I will just sit in warmth on Sunday and drink some coffee or something biggrin.gif

Oooooohhhhh.....that 550 replica is purrrrrrty.
I think I'll give them a call.

Good idea Geoff!

Mrs. P

Congratulations, for whatever award you received. Why not tell us a little more about this honor.

We are proud of you. You gals deserve high five's for hanging around this guy's club.

I entered a beauty pageant and won my division on November 7th. I hold the title of Indiana's Ultimate Woman 2004-2005. I used to do pageants as a teen and decided I wanted to get involved again. Kinda cheesey huh? smile.gif
TheCabinetmaker
Ok, just gotta say it.

Sorry Dan, gotta do it.

I'd put up a pic of me with my "crown and sash" but I can't figure out how to put it in the post! smile.gif I think Dan is proud of me...otherwise I don't think he would let me do them, or at least tell anyone that I have biggrin.gif

It's easy. Check out The pic posting FAQ page.
MrsPnambic
Ok...how is this? wink.gif I'm a quick learner! smile.gif

I lend you my 68 Impalla convertable, but it's 1)a tad far away 2) I'd have to put the front clip back on 3) finnish putting the new 1/4 panels on 3) put the new interior in.

Just a thought...contact one of the other local car clubs if you can't get a teener to use...someone must have a shiney convertable that needs to streach it's legs for the day.
MrsPnambic
Yea...you are a bit far away! But THANK YOU for the offer. smile.gif I am sure SOMEONE will come up with something to help me out. I mean...can ya really turn down a smile like that? biggrin.gif
mudfoot76
The winner of Indiana's Ultimate woman deserves no less than an equally ultimate automobile for the parade. smilie_pokal.gif

Ooley supposedly has a Panoz Esparante convertible available. There is also that lovely Imola Red E46 M3 (although, IMHO, Laguna Seca Blue would be better), and a handful of other open-topped cars....

I'm still willing the lend my 914 to serve as your chariot. I'll be out of town for the weekend, but if you are interested, we can make some type of arrangement for drop off/pick up.
MrsPnambic
Thank you thank you! smile.gif

I will have to see if Dan is going to call them and talk to them to get me a car, if not, would you mind us borrowing yours? I am going to get a sign made up to put on the car and I am even getting autograph cards made to hand out during and after the parade.
Pnambic
I'm almost.....ALLLLLMOST ....afraid to take you up on your offer Geoff. I'm afraid that after driving your green beast, I won't be able to settle for the little 1.7 again.... wink.gif
Brad Roberts
Did you find anything ?? I have a ton of family in Indy and may be able to come up with something.

I like the idea of having her ride on a 914.

B
MrsPnambic
I personally haven't come up with anything yet. (if you heard me on the phone you would think I was some sort of man) I don't think Dan has had time to call being that he is at work and all, but maybe tomorrow he can call and see if he can get me something. I need to turn in my entry by the 24th to be in the parade. It definately would be nice to be on a 914 so that at least hubby can enjoy the parade too, but it doesn't HAVE to be. I am not choosy, but it kinda looks like I am begging. smile.gif
Brad Roberts
Let me see if I can help.

HAAAAAAAAAAAA! ohmy.gif

[At first I misread your post, and thought you were making a 'little 1.7' comment about my car wink.gif ]

No worries, if you're interested in borrowing The Frog, just let me know. I'm still in shakedown mode with it though (only 500-600 miles on new engine and tranny) and it can be quite a handful, especially now that it is getting colder out. There is some work to be done on the jetting as it is damn near impossible to start and keep running if the air temp is below 50F....ya, I know, Weber 44s and no choke setup...the new shift linkage is taking me time to get used to as well. I've also recently learned I have a leaky heat exchanger (and probably a bad control valve too), so I'll disconnect the heater hoses so you don't get sleepy behind the wheel smash.gif
MrsPnambic
You guys are all AWESOME for helping me. If anyone comes up with anything, let me know! smile.gif I need to get some rest...I am running a fever and feeling just horrible as I type. Not sure what it is I have, but it is nasty! sad.gif
Brad Roberts
Oh.. Dan.. she IS HOT. LOL

I'm not shy.

B
MrsPnambic
Who's hot? rolleyes.gif Was that a compliment or were you talking about my fever? smile.gif
Gint
That was indeed a compliment and not a commentary on your current ailment. One I share if I may say so.

BTW - Welcome to the Club!
MrsPnambic
Well thank you both VERY much then! smile.gif I just napped and I do have to say I feel a little better. Throat is still sore and I probably still have my fever, but I feel a little better at the moment.

By the way, Thanks for the welcome! I am enjoying myself even though I don't know much about porsches. I am slowly learning. Dan will get me hooked somehow I know it! smile.gif
Brad Roberts
Drive ONE AutoX and you will be hooked forever. What needs to be done to get Dans car done for you guy's ?

Post some pics of "his" progress... I havent seen any.

Oh.. it was a compliment. I'm always amazed that 914 guy's can attract attractive women.. clap56.gif I would have never guessed...LOL

B

Where the heck were you last year? I just moved to Colorado! I was in Indy with a 914 and I would have been more than happy to be of service! Oh well...another missed chance to show off!

I can see it now: Everyone commenting on the little black sports car. How it looks familiar, but somehow exotic? What is it? A Porsche? Me strutting out to sit in the car to get started. Approving nods from various onlookers, some of them possibly even jealous... and then...

RRRR RRRR RRR...

RRRR RRRR RRR...

crap, won't start...

RRRR RRRR RRR...

RRRR RRRR RRR...

I can smell the fuel, whats wrong? It drove the 20miles to get to the site of the parade! It should work!!! People now think I am a lunatic, talking to myself and the car... Pop the engine lid and lean over inside...is it getting spark? Why now? all the wiring looks good...could you hand me that tool kit?

I think you all know where I'm going with this! HAHAHAHA

"Porsche 914, the coolest car you will ever push down the side of the road!" smilie_flagge6.gif
MrsPnambic
LOL....Brad.... See I came BEFORE the car. I had no idea he was into 914's as much when we got married. I am learning all about these little cars.

Well his car...hmmm....his actual car needs A LOT! sad.gif Now the car he is calling his and saying is close is actually my dad's 914 that he bought when Dan got his. Well it is pretty close to running but has run into a few little snags. Now, I haven't taken any pictures of it because of various other things going on during the times when he was working on the car. He would have to post to tell ya what it is that is keeping the Silver car from coming out of the garage.

If I get a porsche for the parade, it will be my first ride EVER in a porsche. I won't be a 914 Virgin anymore! smile.gif Anyway, the silver one isn't going to be ready for the parade, otherwise Dan would be bragging right now that he is going to be driving it for the parade. sad.gif

I am surprised he doesn't even have any pics up of either of those two cars. He surely took enough on my digital camera of them sitting! smile.gif
MrsPnambic
That IS a pretty car! I can see that vision now...me walking in the parade...crown and sash on....with my sign of who I am on my back...pushing the porsche! wink.gif I better revise my wardrobe that day and NOT wear my gown! biggrin.gif
Brad Roberts
I met Dan last year under the back of Seans white car. Great guy. You sound like a wonderful lady. Hang in there, Dan will get a 914 on the road. We are his "support" group.. biggrin.gif I need to visit family soon in Indy. Maybe we can put together a few "work" days to help him out.

B
MrsPnambic
Oh yea...one minor detail....Both cars are up at my parents in Rolling Prairie Indiana! sad.gif So even when he wants to work on it...he has to drive 2.5 - 3 hours to get to it. So you see that he doesn't get much time to work on it. But if he could work on it telepathically, it would be done, because he is constantly talking about it and thinking about it. smile.gif
Brad Roberts
OUCH. I forgot about that. Dan did tell me that. I would think *somebody* has shop space he could "borrow" and get one of the cars closer to him.

B
MrsPnambic
He would love that. I think the main reason it is up at my parents is the fact that he has help from my dad (when my dad isn't busy) to work and test things. My dad LOVES to rebuild cars. He has many exceptional vehicles in his large garage. Plus my dad has all the tools that he would ever need to use to work on the cars, not to mention the parts and such up there as well. The orange 914 (Dan's car) still has no engine. That one isn't going anywhere anytime soon. We towed it up to my parents so it could get worked on. Might be a waste to bring it back down here unless he can get the parts to get it working. Still it leaves me high and dry for a ride either way on parade day. Yes I am still fussing about that. smile.gif
Pnambic
OK: Silver car...
Yes, it officially belongs to my father-in-law, but I'm pretty sure he'll sell it to me for a good price.

Shoulda been ready for the FFC. All I needed was the carb synch bar for the webers. Doug was kind enough to let me borrow one from his stash. (It's still in my trunk Doug....gotta get it back to you...) I was putting everything together and noticed rather late that the intakes that I had required a longer stud coming out of the head for the outside studs on both sides. I moseyed over to the other 1.7 on the engine stand to see how hard it would be to pull the stud and replace it with a longer one. It came right out. I figured, "No Problem!" I got 3 of the studs out with no prob....the fourth stud sheered off at the head. Now I probably need to drop the engine, pull the head and see if I can get that dam screw out, or replace it if necessary. If I had a place like Brad's and his know-how, it'd be a 45 minute job. Me? It'll take half the winter.

Ok: Orange car...
Mine....but has significant rust damage. Fixable, but I want to get the Silver going first. I have 2 1.7 cores complete, but unsure of the integrity of the insides. I may end up putting a different engine in it, like a Buick v6 or sbc. A V8 just sounds like sooooo much engine for such a little car. Prolly kill me. I could prolly put in a 2.2L Saturn 4 banger and get about 220hp and 45+ mpg. smile.gif

I hate Homeowners' Associations....they actually have a rule that says I can't work on a car even if its in my garage if the garage door is open.
