OK: Silver car...
Yes, it officially belongs to my father-in-law, but I'm pretty sure he'll sell it to me for a good price.
Shoulda been ready for the FFC. All I needed was the carb synch bar for the webers. Doug was kind enough to let me borrow one from his stash. (It's still in my trunk Doug....gotta get it back to you...) I was putting everything together and noticed rather late that the intakes that I had required a longer stud coming out of the head for the outside studs on both sides. I moseyed over to the other 1.7 on the engine stand to see how hard it would be to pull the stud and replace it with a longer one. It came right out. I figured, "No Problem!" I got 3 of the studs out with no prob....the fourth stud sheered off at the head. Now I probably need to drop the engine, pull the head and see if I can get that dam screw out, or replace it if necessary. If I had a place like Brad's and his know-how, it'd be a 45 minute job. Me? It'll take half the winter.
Ok: Orange car...
Mine....but has significant rust damage. Fixable, but I want to get the Silver going first. I have 2 1.7 cores complete, but unsure of the integrity of the insides. I may end up putting a different engine in it, like a Buick v6 or sbc. A V8 just sounds like sooooo much engine for such a little car. Prolly kill me. I could prolly put in a 2.2L Saturn 4 banger and get about 220hp and 45+ mpg.
I hate Homeowners' Associations....they actually have a rule that says I can't work on a car even if its in my garage if the garage door is open.
