So I bought this rolled copper washer but I think it is too big, is it supposed to compress and close the distance to the plug.

The drain plug diameter is 12mm, the washer is 14mm ID and 20mm OD, something tells me I bought the wrong one.

Should I have purchased 12mm ID ones instead ??

Let me know what you think.

Sorry my 1.7 engine did not have the correct washer to begin with. So I dont have an original one to compare.

If anyone has source for them it would be appreciated.

Thank you
Ted

I have about 6 just like yours. I ended up using a plastic drain plug seal from NAPA. I think the bigger ones fit type I engines. Hope someone can ID a source for the correct ones.

Pretty sure you can use the crush washer from the sump screen gasket kit.

Nice link, too bad it's for the WRONG gaskets, and too bad you wasted your money on them. Maybe the provider of the link will take 'em off your hands, postage and all. Or not.

BTW, when you do get the correct washers, note that the split side of the washer goes toward the head of the bolt, NOT toward the threaded part.
