I'd like to know if anyone else with -6 linkage has seen this. The last
piece connected to the bar at the trans lever has 2 separate contacts/
movements, and even though I didn't see a wear pattern they were
both pretty sloppy. Below I'll show what I did for this.
The top channel contacts the ball of the trans lever. It has 18mils
of slop in it but the ball doesn't look worn. I decided the easiest thing
to do was glue in a 26-gauge brass shim with some 3M super90.
Perfect fit now. Even if this wears within a year or two, it's very easy
to re-do and I'm under the car a lot anyway.
But the fork side of the piece has HUGE slop. About 75 mils. It
actually looks like maybe somebody ground the opening wider
because the casting is smooth and rounded everywhere else. So,
this slop was taken basically to 0-5 mils by welding it and
re-grinding.
Sorry the pictures are only after being greased. It's still snowing
here so I won't even get to feel for improvement for a while.
