Hello all,
I think we've settled on our first set of tires for our car for the upcoming DE in April. Was wondering if anyone has a line on a good place to bu Falken Azenis tires, specifically the RT-615Ks? There are a few online distributors, but the one I've been to most in the past, TireRack, doesn't carry Falkens. Can anyone recommend a good place at a decent price?

Was hoping that Falken would be up to sponsoring a Chumpcar, but even with their recent great finish at Sebring, I don't think they're going to go for it smile.gif

I could not find any in USA . I got 4 tires from a dealer in Canada .

I got my rt-615s from www.vulcantire.com as they do mobile install in Utah for what most places would charge to ship. Looks like they have some in stock at the UT warehouse at the moment.

Had the best price at the time as well but that was 4 years ago, not sure how they compare now.

I get mine at America's Tire Company.

Always less than a week, if they aren't in stock.

Thanks guys. Will look into Discount Tire. There are a few in Florida, but none real close to my house. Suppose I could make a drive though. Now I just need to make sure they'll fit!

Sears carries them as well, though probably not in stock.

I think for the money the Nitto or the Kuhmo is a much better tire.

Yeah, but Chumpcar has a treadwear limit, which I think is 200. I believe that excludes all Nittos and most of the Kumhos. The two most popular choices are Falken Azenis and Dunlop Direzzas. I ran a Mustang last year with the Dunlops and I didn't like them.

The cars I've watched over the years the Star Specs were out performing anything in that class of tire. What didn't you like them?

Hey Aaron,
With the car I drove them on, I always felt like I had very little room for error and the tire would not report back to me. The one time I looped it I had no warning or squealing from the tires. That, and once they got good and warmed up with some hard laps, I had a very hard time cooling them back down. Since at least one of our drivers will have no track time before our first DE next month, I'd rather go with something that turns in well but still warns the driver before it gives up. The Star Specs are great, sticky tires and the Falkens are almost on par, but I'd pick the Falkens to learn on. Plus, our theme is based on the Falken schema (I know, probably lame) so that's what we'll start with. If we need another set, I'd consider the Star Specs.

I think the heat thing may just be part of the design of these tires as it seems like they are both designed to be autox tires just above most street class wear limits. I have run the original rt-615s for a few years and they have a real bad problem getting hot and greesy quickly after just a couple runs, though i have heard the Ks have improved that. I am in debate as well as if my next set will be the Ks or the Star specs as I have read the Star Specs are a bit faster but I also was not impressed with my last set of Dunlops which is why i got the Falkens to begin with.

If you do go with the Ks please report back on how they compare.
