I watched it one time last week. I said to my friend who was watching with me when the Nissan GTR came on, "this will end badly for the rednecks."

My car handles incredibly well but I'd want a lot more horses to take on a couple of those cars.

ya but you got one of them thar imports....
messix
but jeff, do you think you could build a big six to make 500hp for long enough to whoop on them?
Cairo94507
That was the one time i have watched that show and that GTR made quick work of anything they threw at it.
FourBlades

I don't know how many red necks take $45,000 cars and then add another $50,000+ in modifications to them.

I am sure there are some...

I thought this was an interesting proposition until going onto youtube and in the first several clip you see cars bumping which instantly tells me a 914 will not fare well against a 3500 lb muscle car.

One of the biggest challenges when you are racing a high HP car is racing “your” race...as in fast corners. If they get ahead of you on the first straight they then control the corner speed which kills your momentum. I have had this battle many times with a Cobra; I would catch him at the end of the straight but could not get by because of his torque.

The other huge factor is the track, if it has mostly long straights then the muscle car will not need to corner well.

Give me 300 hp (Jeff?), a disposable 914 (anyone?), a small track (Blackhawk Farms?) and I will give it a shot! I am sure there would be a line of others here who would be willing to give it a shot also.

If Jeff could build a high hp big six Eddie has the car to put it in... Big brakes sorted chassis and glass fenders full cage and he tracks it often while driving to the track

I was surprised the guy with the GTR didn't choose to race against that Challenger. Sure, it was a purpose built racer but that GTR starts life pretty potent, and he had it in a pretty good street prepared state. I think it would have been a hell of a race.

I can't smoke enough pot to get that stupid. When I hear that idiot talk I find the easyest thing for me would be to shoot him and increase the IQ of the world by a point.
Some of those cars have more money in thier suspension than I make in 2 years.

The redneck cars all carry big Hp and the power to weight is impressive. Also the rear end gearing seems to top out on their cars at around 150. They are all geared for the track, rolling start and they always jump ahead in the first corner at which time they don't let anyone get by. The first guy to the first corner wins. Suprised no GT3 or turbo has shown yet. The GTR handed them their asses. Then again, when some fast ass GT3 makes it to the final they will probably bring out a twin turbo Viper ACR or Vette ringer with Jeff Gordon driving. driving.gif

I have not had TV at my house for the past 6.5 years. So with that in mind, are you guys serious?? Is there really a show like this on now?? If so, they really have run out of ideas to capture our attention haven't they??

Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled BS programing. . . rolleyes.gif

Nate, you actually would not believe what passes for programming. That old Springsteen song about 57 channels and nothing on is very appropriate.
Tom
Thank goodness for the history channel and the Nat geo channels. Even if they do have some questionable programs.
The faster than a redneck show is funny as hell! Last time I watched it, an Audi station waggon whipped them all! LOL!!
