Okay, since I personally am not a fan of posting my cell number for the world to see, and I know many of you also aren't, I've decided to re-compile a list of names, locations, and numbers of people willing to help in the even that your 914 breaks down on you.
If you're interested in contributing, please PM me you Name, phone number, and general location, and I'll compile it all into an excel sheet. Once it's done, people can PM me, and I'll send them the file with everything in it. That way, people can print it out and store it in the 914.

thats a good idea ethan. 20 years ago i was a member of NEATO (notrheast association of transporter owners) and every year we used to get a small booklet of names and addresses of people who submitted them. the people also submitted if they had tools, a place to work on your car, spare parts, an extra bed, and so on. it was a very handy little book for road trips. every year we had to update our info.

I have a copy of the spreadsheet (a few years old) that I'd be happy to send to whoever is the official holder of the database. I believe I received it from Slits, however I do not have an email address that I can file attach it to him.

Ethan,
Andy and I spoke about something similar to this a little while ago. He had begun working on a Google Maps database as well as compiling info for members. I looked into the API but got busy with school. If you do this via Excel, you could upload the database to Google Docs and assign it a password so that others could access it as needed.

I like this idea. PM sent with number and location. I knew it wouldn't take long for someone smarter than me to come up with something.
Thanks Ethan.

I like the idea of the google Docs with a password. Safe, and accessible by everyone.
As much as I would love to just use the old list, I'm not sure how long ago it was compiled, and whether or not the people on that list are still willing to help, or even have 914's any more.

Just keep the Irish, Scot and Germans here topped off with coffee and you won't need a list.

Could the document be created so we can log on and add our info?

I was tryign to think about how to accomplish this, and my only conclusion would be to use dropbox to get everyone's info in, but I don't know how many people have it, and would be willing to do it themselves.
Right now, I'm separating everyone into main areas of the country, so in the even that you do get stranded, you're not sifting through a bunch of names from the East coast, if you're stuck in central Cali. Should make it easier to look through.
