That's right!
Yours truly is in the running for Car of the Month for a second time. smile.gif
Last time it was a CW (concours weenie) car that won, although we made a good race out of it.

This time its another steep hill climb because Eric Shea's just finished GT clone is one of the contenders and is already way ahead in the voting.

Here's the link to the COTM thread.
Let's prove that the full time race cars also have what it takes to represent our Marque. beerchug.gif
Thank you for voting for Racer Chris. cheer.gif

Are you the same guy who asked Eric for a discount on calipers in exchange for a vote? biggrin.gif

How about "Free gas for everyone who votes for my car."
(We often have to find a place to dispose of old gas after draining a tank in a car that's been sitting for years.)

I voted for you Chris.

I was going to vote for Eric, but hey, he's West Coast........

Nice Shift Bushing BTW. Can't wait to get it in. Oh, that didn't sound right......

Personally I think a vendor should post 10 times before being able to be eligible for Car of the Month. (Classified humor) poke.gif

You got my vote Chris. Something about a horse ridden hard, put away wet with a checkered flag hanging out the window that appeals to me.

Have to admit Erics car is a perty one though.

I liked Eric's car as I have seen it and it could win this anytime it is in the running. But I voted for the really driven car. Not the hardly driven car. Eric's car has not been to the Route 66 or the Red Rock Classic and they are in his area. I hope it shows up next week just to prove me wrong. Oh, I keep forgetting that I own a real race car.

Chris,

WTF.gif was that Miata doing in the video? Surely SCCA doesn't allow that kind of driving, even when warming up the tires! That is outright, blantantly dangerous shit. Whatever happened to him?

You're absolutely right George.
The track was under green flag conditions from the moment we left pit lane.
Did you notice the flagger on the back straight waving the green flag at him?

While my friends were repairing the 914 I was involved in a protest of the Miata driver.
He only got a 12 race probation since it was his first infraction. WTF.gif
Then he had the nerve to appeal the decision... but so did I. biggrin.gif
He lost his appeal fee and I got mine back because the decision was that his appeal was unfounded and mine was well founded, but they still didn't increase the penalty. blink.gif
I had a petition to have his race license revoked, signed by at least 3 former national champions and 25 other drivers from the small bore classes who all had witnessed his on-track behavior during the season.
Madswede
Regarding the Miata driver, I'm pretty speechless. What a stromberg.gif Still, what a cool story about you folks fixing it back up well enough. smilie_pokal.gif Really hard to keep a determined driver and great crew with a 914 out of the winners circle!

I can honestly say, if that was me, I would have beat the daylights out of him.

There are racing incidents, then there is stupidity. I have no tolerance for stupidity.

Chris, what are you doing man? First you get accused of bashing your competitors products and then you blatantly challenge the imperial Erc in a public forum! blink.gif

It appears that Douchebags outnumber Racers about 2-1, on 914World anyway.

I found a damage pic from another National race.
This was 2003 at NHIS.
Going into the first (left hand) turn the driver in front of me looped his car.
We were already on the inside line and I had no choice but to turn right to avoid him.
My buddy Robert in a BMW 320i poked into my passenger door.
His car, the brick that it is, didn't even have a scratch.

You know what I appreciate about your car Chris? You retain the tradition of keeping it straight and looking nice. I was always taught, having grown up around sportscar racing and the SCCA, that this was one of the many things that separates sportscar racers and oval track guys. We may get dings and dents too, but we don't simply hammer them out and go back at it. It began as a gentleman's sport, and remains so today - taking pride in your machine means taking pride in remembering the history of racing itself.

If you don't win this month, rest assured your car will be re-nominated right away.
RiceNeck
I voted for the race car Chris, plus my car has several parts from Tangerine.
Chris always fields my calls and talks to me when I have issues.
Now maybe I can get a discount.........
and I'll just post a couple of pictures in the racing thread

Thanks George,
I take pride in the fact that my 914 stands out among SCCA race cars.
I even had a competitor tell me his son said the Tangerine 914 was his favorite race car. laugh.gif
BTW, I'm still trying to locate those brake ducts for you. I did find the inlet pieces for behind the airdam though. Do you need an airdam?

Thanks Roger, Congratulations on a successful debut!
That tangerine breather can really stands out, and the installation looks good too. smile.gif
Did you find an obstruction that was preventing the auto-drain-back feature from functioning properly?

I voted Orange Chris. Love them work horses!

This pic was taken in my brother's back yard in Johnson City, TN.
I stopped there on the way between the Road Atlanta and Summit Point Nationals in April 2005.

From pictures in this and the other thread, it's fascinating to see how the Tangerine has evolved.

All worthy cars here, but, we've got your back, Chris: beer.gif

Chris,

Where does the giant aluminum HVAC fresh air tube get its air from then? I was looking through all the checkered flag pics and I couldn't figure it out. I know the latest modification using the headlight buckets ducts air into an oil cooler, but I didn't know about the fresh air for the engine.

Hmm... I think it's nice to see people take pride in what they own and expound upon all the work they've done. If you don't like it, you don't have to vote. poke.gif
