Some of you might have read about them on STF, but for those who didn't:

Apfelbeck cylinderhead project

Technically speaking, they should flow even better then a 911 head, not to mention the twin spark for also slightly better combustion icon_bump.gif

my one concern is all that mass between the belt gears and such... i mean its got to weigh 4 times as much as a stock cam gear, but at least they wont need a flywheel

how much extra width does that setup add to the overall width of the engine?

will it be wider than a 911 engine??

Yep, Absolutely amazing and I WANT A SET for Project X.

These heads are worth any amount of money they will cost, and I'll pay whatever they want for a set because this kind of development and effort is priceless (I know)

These heads will finally produce a TIV engine that may have the capability to max out some other parts inside (thats never happened before)
the engine that are monsterous and that'll be the day the bar is raised higher yet again! I can't wait!

These guys have done some serious homework, they deserve a HUGE pat on the back!

Wally, if you need any parts for that first test engine- I'll give them to you at 10% BELOW my cost! Merry Christmas!

If someone was really smart I think a set of air cooled desmodromic heads from a 900 ss ducati Air cooled would be damn close, Not sure of the Manifold angle, But we used to build old air cooled Duc motors in the 750cc size and the ouput was just over 90 hp, so lets see, a 2000 cc engine would make 240 hp out of 2liters, should be fun, But seriously, if you want this type of configuration, consider a motorcycle derived cylinder head and build a water cooled cylinder to go with it. You would have to do some work, but a well tuned RMZ 450 Suzuki motorcross engine will make over 60 hp, provided you could make this happen, it would equate to 266 hp, four vales per cylinder, etc.

I like the thinking. and would love to see someone do this really right. I think their belt system is too big. But what do I know. I love it anyway.

Looking at that is so humbling. Sometimes I think I know a little something about engines and then I see something that makes me feel like I'm in kindergarten again.

Push rods: No
Cam belts: Yes

That's a T4 I'd have in a heartbeat.

We need to talk, I am working on this. and have some stuff already. The biggest problem is the geometry is different, so new cams must be produced. How would you like more ratio and roller tip and follower, yeah baby. No more axial valve stem thrust, or I should better state Reduced axial valve stem thrust. HEHEHE.

I may have a runing prototype as soon as the spring.

This is so cool.
wow. I've sat and pondered different alternatives to the push rod actuation. I love the 3 valve layout. Looks kinda heavy, but hopefully that translates to strong, We gotta keep watching this.
