I am in the process of putting in a sound system for the 914. I guess two speakers up front will be fine, but has anyone tried putting speakers behind or near the seats?

I have a parts car that was formerly used by an mobile audio company.

They 3 tweeter/mids in the getty dash

They put 3 sets of tweeter/mids in the roll bar pad.

They put tweeters in the headrests. Ala Fiero

Subwoffer in the center console

Tweeters in the fresh air vents in the sides of the dash

6 inch subs where speakers should be placed.

Add about a mile of cable, 3 crossovers and 2 amps

and a 80's vintage Alpine CD player

I poke.gif spoke to Mark to see if Morph could mod his back pad shells.
I do know Morph is swamped so don't hold your breath.

Thanks for the offer, but I think I will keep it a little simplier.

Not simple, but maybe someone could take it on.
I never liked the Idea of cutting holes in good back pads. Although, I guess a speaker inclosure like mine could be made to bolt to the back pad.
You would still need to cut large holes for the magnets.
You would have to lay-up a flange by covering your back pad with something like tin foil, to protect it.
Lay-up the flange where the speaker would mount to contour of the vinyl.
After cutting a hole in your inclosure and flange for your magnet, your speaker inclosure would bond to the flange lay-up. Bondo a fillet between the flange and inclosure, trim the flange lay-up maybe 1/2"" bigger than the fillet shape and drill mounting holes in the flange. Cover with thin felt and bolt to your back pad.
If you can get me 35 hrs in a day, I would do it for you.

Are these the fiberglass ones I sell, just modified?

They look good.

No. To make the shell I did a lay-up on the back of my back pad and deleted the holes.

But for all it is worth, yes, your back pad shell is the same.
You would not have to make a new mold. You could just make the mold for the speaker boss and scab them on, as an option.

I went the simple route & put motorcycle speakers (amazon.com) in the corner of
the rollbar area , Bill D.
