Gents,
In the middle of updating all my fuel lines and I have had a set of Tangerine's steel 4pc set for several years now...
I need to purchase some fuel hose for the engine compartment (where the pump and filter are both located), but not sure what size I need to purchase.
The Tangerine site says 8mm and 9.5mm ID, but in the top pic says "Monster 12.5". I don't know what I have.
Is fuel hose at AutoZone for example listed with the ID or OD size?
Also, this is gonna sound REALLY dumb, but I lost the directions that came with the set a LONG time ago... I'm not really sure where the engine compartment fuel lines go exactly. Does the steel line go through the engine shelf grommet or???
Anyone have the Tangerine set installed (on a '73 preferably) so I can see how you have it all routed and hooked up?
Thanks!
(ps. I still smell like gas
...tank removal solo... fun)
I could email you the instructions in PDF from work, along with a pic of the engine comp lines, but I won't be able to do that until Monday.
The engine comp lines go through the engine shelf grommets with the bent ends to the rear where they connect to the engine fuel rail circuit.
I like to orient them so the longer one on top is the return, connected to the hose coming from the fuel pressure regulator along the rear of the engine.
I doubt you have the Monster Suby lines. I don't sell them unless the customer insists.
If you have a stock rear mounted pump the tunnel lines should be 9.5 on the right side (supply) and 8mm on the left (return).
They're real close to the dia of your old plastic lines.
If you didn't buy the adapter we sell, you'll need to reduce the 9.5mm to 8mm (with hose barb fittings and a coupler from a hardware store, or an OE reducing hose) along the firewall just before the pump.
The pump fittings and fuel rails all take 8mm hose. Some people insist that 7mm hose should be used but todays replacement hose is much harder than the old stuff and 7mm is real hard to stretch over the stock fittings on the car.
You can probably get FI hose from your FLAPS. Its listed by ID measurement. Just ask for 5/16" (7.9mm) and 3/8" (9.5mm).
Get some FI hose clamps too. They're measured by hose OD. The sizes are 13-15mm and 14-16mm.
