I just watched the ultra cool video of the white 914 with megaphones. Where do you buy them? Are they modified 911 megs or do they have the same flange as the 4 banger exhaust/heat exchanger?
Thanks!

Scott,
Where did you see the video. Was it from a PCA AX. Maybe Trekkor Wills. He had a set of megs on his car at the last GGR ax of the 2004 season. sounded very cool and looked good too!

doood, don't do it unless you have a 4-1 header -- and then only if you're looking for peak hp and high rpm.

So, what is a REALLY GOOD sounding muffler to put on a stock 2.0? Those megaphones sounded great!

I like my Triad, Bruce... but Bradholio was right, they get louder, and the tone changes..

As I recall... it was $320.. or so..? I think the shipping was next to nothing...
If you get one, you should have it powder coated, soon... so.. $420ish.. ouch.
Hey! I was right!

I made my set of megaphones from two VW bug stingers by EMPI. The were cheap. About $45 for the megaphones and removeable baffles packed with fiberglass.
They came with 1.75" ID VW 3 bolt flanges. I cut off the VW flanges and welded on a set of 2" ID flanges. I angled the pipes up a bit for added clearance for trailering and my super steep driveway.
With the baffles installed, it's loud!
With the baffles removed, it's LOOOUUUD!
At the track, the car can be heard from a gas station more than a mile away!
Music! Pure music!

I think straight pipes torque more where I like it, and they are also louder, a plus!
Using soundwaves for back pressure is an art.

Nice work on the stingers. I thought of doing that too.
Glad to see it on your car.
I've had stingers on every air cooled car I've owned at one time or another.

Scott,
this is likely not your goal, but without a x-over there is usually a power loss on a -4 with straight megaphones...
a 4/2/1 header would change that
