Its the real version of the cheap plastic toy cars that come in inexpensive toy car collection sets or happy meals, and dodge trademark infringement by being make agnostic??

Yup,East coaster, a Puma.
The owner told me there is only 500 registered in the US. Only 2 in MI. I asked him if he can get parts at FLAPS for it and he told me his source for parts- "I know a guy who knows a guy that goes to Brazil every few months"

I actually almost bought one of those once (a long time ago). It was a coupe; kinda cool looking IMHO and definitely rare in the States.
The main issue was that it drove, and looked (inside) exactly like a Bug. Which it is, basically, IIRC. I was looking for something with a bit more power, handling, and chick-attracting powers at the time.
