After hard driving at the AX School this weekend, the car is backfiring slightly under deceleration in gear. Valve adjustment time?

Also, on the drive home, at 50-70 the steering was rattling hard after turns then it would smooth out in the straights. Turn again, rattling, then smooth out.

Any ideas what these things could be?
Brad Roberts
No idea.. but I will be down this week. We can take a peek at it..

The backfiring.. could be a small exhaust leak.

What kind of fuel system, FI or Carbs?
Look at your tires to see if you lost a piece of something is stuck in em.

Check your wheel bearings and make sure the wheels are bolted tightly to the hubs.

Brad, now that I think about it, I noticed that both bolts on the exhaust hangar are gone.

backfiring on decelleration is, in my experience, most often an exhaust leak.

Test:
Run the engine cold.
Cover both tailpipes so that no exhaust can escape.
If the engine dies, then either the leak is very small, or non existent.
If the engine keeps running, you'll probably also hear a loud hiss. That's your leak.
Brad Roberts
See.. even when I have NO idea.. I have a clue...LOL

I will reinstall the hangar bolts and diagnose the exhaust for hissing.

The front wheel berings are not loose from external lateral testing, could it be the tires or something else? The shaking only occurs at high speeds during and shortly after turns.
