I went with the Oklahoma State University Formula SAE team this weekend to test our car in Drumright OK. well, my car fits under the the same gate we push the formula car under (don't worry, we have permission) so we used my 914 to lay out a 1 mile course for testing.
My time on lukewarm 4 season tires in street trim was a 1:19, the fastest time set in the formula car was only a 1:12.
Skid pad I was running about 7 seconds around a 50ft diameter circle, whereas the formula car was running about 6 seconds, and I didnt take out a single cone with only about a foot of clearance on either side of the car.
No one could believe how well a street car on street tires held up against an open wheel 450cc car weighing 385lbs on sticky hoosier slicks. Definitely a fun comparison!
