I don't think this car is 914114... sad.gif

But it does have prototype features like then rear lid support and hinges. cool.gif

Cool find. There are several other very early articles on the 914 in European magazines, it would be great to have an archive and english translations of those for research if anyone is up to the task.

agree.gif it's even more likely 914120 ... but this is only an assumption

I'm one of the lucky, I own a near to mint issue from this mag mueba.gif

I've got a couple of other early 914 articles. If I've a little more time, I could scan them and post here. But please don't ask me for a translation wacko.gif

yes. some prototype features. rear hood hinges and prop rod, small rear trunk lock ...

it is *NOT* 914114, this car is later in time, it is much closer to production (looks at the door-jambs for example) ...

i don't think it is 914120 either as that car is the sport-o-matic prototype and the car in the magazine seems to be a manual 5-speed ...

PS: also note how they used different wheels for the fotos ...

i just noticed ...

the wheels on the first page look like steel 4-lug wheels with chrome hubcaps!
did they make those steel-wheels for 5-lug also ????

sure!
those were standard for the six - 5 1/2 x 15 steel
optional available 5 1/2 x 15 Fuchs and same dimension Mahle Gasburners

The Sporto shifters look similar to the stock 914 shifters…at least from a distance

how can you tell for sure that the mag don't show a sport-o-matic idea.gif
I guess the interior pic is too dark to see the difference

I add an interior pic from a real (Porsche certified) sport-o-matic six:

ok, ok ...

here's another clue that it's not 914120 ...
the car in the magazine has the VIN-Plate that usually is riveted on the headlight bucket on the fender where one would expect the VIN be stamped into the metal.

914120 has the VIN-Plate on the headlight bucket and does not show any signs of ever having the plate on the fender ...

according to the current owner, the original color for 914120 was some kind of blue.

914120 does not have the prototype rear trunk hinges.
