MDG on the bench tomorrow.

Great example of a very early S-Caliper casting. You can tell by the notches on the top above the pin journals. The pins clips are to rest in there. Shortly thereafter they did away with the notches.

69ers I'd say. Great for a killer 914-6 project. These are the same calipers the factory put on #11.

Eric - your work is becoming predictably immaculate. This is getting kinda boring; you should screw something up every now and then to keep some drama involved.

Scotty - what type of primer should I use before I paint them red?
Mark Henry
Mike I got those Porsche decals you wanted, they will look dope on those calipers once you paint them red.
Eric_Shea
We're gonna powder coat them a "lighter" shade of red (you could call it) and decal it here. thumb3d.gif

Erc, let me know when my Calipers get there, so I can get with you about the other things I need!

Sweet. I was gonna put Brembo on them. Even though they aren't Brembos that'd be cool.

How long do you think it will take to find the second one?

Back from anodizing... these cores came out well:

Close up of the nose:
IPB Image

DuroAno pistons are not only 1/2 the weight of the stock S-Caliper and stainless steel counterparts but, they'll never cause dissimilar metal issues ever again. Even stainless can cause the white corrosion... not DuroAno's.
IPB Image

Let the assembly begin...
IPB Image

New lines will determine which way the pistons go in. We always flip S-Calipers from their original orientation (they are omni directional calipers). In their original form they begin to score the top of the piston bore. When we flip them the slight scoring ends up on the bottom. The lines determine the caliper.
IPB Image

This line makes this one the passenger’s side caliper and... away we go.

Everything loosely put together:

New beehive bleeder caps... details, details, details.

Time to torque up the fluid inlet covers. I like to use 15lbft. for these. the fasteners are 12.9 so I go to the max. torque setting.

Some glam shots with a VW nod for the teeners.
