I use TEM machine shop in Napa. If you go, tell them Mark sent you. Or give me a call @ 707-738-5686 and I'll meet you there to talk to them. They're good honest machine shop. No BS.

DANGER WILL ROBINSON!!!

Never ever ever EVER use those assholes. If you're lucky, you can get the work done. If not, they will do the work poorly, and they will do extra work you did not authorize (and try to charge you for it!), and they will take two months longer than promised to get the heads back to you. (Guess which one of those describes my own experience with them??)

I have also talked to a couple of other people who got completely boned by them.

Tech Craft in Redwood City was pretty good to me. I thought HPH used them--Rich recommended them to me for a stock rebuild.

There is a machinist in Santa Rosa named Soren Andersen; I forget the name of his shop but Randy W from Roadglue (dot-com!) has gone to him and was happy with the work.

German Precision in Sunnyvale has a great rep, but the owner can be tough to deal with on occasion.

I've had TEM clean the heads, install new guides and grind the valves. I wouldn't hesitate to use them for anything they said they could do. I know the owner really really well and he's very level headed and realistic. If he can't do it 110%, he won't do it at all. His regular balance job on a crank is what other shops call their "race spec". That's the level of quality. I'm serious if you want me to go along. Always nice to meet another teener in the area and always good to go hang out with the guys at TEM. Call me.

Oh, and their really quick.
