I bought a bunch of tools at an auction sale a couple of months ago. Some of the stuff I don't know exactly what it's for, but I think it's mostly aircooled bug factory transmission tools.

Some I do know and now use...the silver thing is a stand for a T4 head, stands the guide straight up and down.
The green unit is a factory T1 valve spring compressor and behind that is a factory valve seat cutter set.

Man, thats sweet stuff!

The unknown tools, all VW factory tools …sorry bad pic
it’s a lot of tools for sure.
Mark Henry
My IP is crapping out big time….sympatico.ca SUCKS …I need a new IP
Mark Henry
The tool top/left is the factory tool for measuring the spacer between 3rd and 4th gear.
The silver tool may be for a Porsche. Tool # P208
The tool with the wing nut is an ATE unit part # 2314-1300 2
I think the big one top/right is for putting a dial indicator on the gear stack.
Mark Henry
I have this link, but most of the numbers don’t match up and this doesn’t tell me much anyways.

Mark
Send me a list of any numbers on the tools. I'll go through the shop manuals and ID the tools as best I can.

Here is P200 for instance:
Mark Henry
Ok so these would be:

top, P 208 Fan belt pulley wrench For 914/6 only

middle, P 202 Camshaft wrench

bottom, P 302 Thrust piece Installs rear wheel bearing
Mark Henry
P 357 Measuring device (5 parts)

This is P 357a....so am I missing the other 4pcs?

For measuring what?
Mark Henry
Here is a better pic of the smaller tools
Mark Henry
So...is this a ball joint spanner for a 911???

It only has 2 teeth they measure about 2.370 on the OD.
Mark Henry
The one on the left is the above tool, it's about a foot long with a 3/8 drive. Can't read the part #

Center is a new one for pressure or vacuum testing something, part # T3506

Pretty sure the one on the right is for pressing the timing gear on a T4 crank. Again part 3 hard to read...# 40-205??
davep
That 'looks' more like the tool for the front strut shock nut due to its length. The ball joint tool is similar, but rather short. It looks to be missing two teeth. BTW, I need to get such a nut off of a strut very soon now. I was just about to make my own tool up.

Close Dave but no cigar....it's a bit smaller, maybe it's for a super beetle...damn.

BTW it only had two teeth, I don't think the tool has ever been used, no marks on the teeth at all.

Thanks for the links Dave, they helped, but the last one is just the std. bug tools that you can get today from any bug shop, including me.
Mark Henry
BTW how much do you think I paid for all this stuff????

Oh…. plus a 36hp and a 1200cc T1 Malhe german piston and cylinder kits, 2 reground 1200 cranks, about $150 worth (my cost) of new T1 engine bearings, half dozen new hex plugs for 914 inside rear calliper, NOS T4 dizzy drive in box, assorted timecerts and studs, assorted T1 small parts and a bunch of stuff I could care less about…ie new W/C rods and piston sets, etc.

Most were in job lots and if I wanted one tool I had to take them all.
Mark Henry
What??? No one wants to try a guess on the price? confused24.gif
DrifterJay
10 bucks wink.gif
Mark Henry
Nope...$250 Canadian (about $200US)

But I didn't get the steal of the day...Mike (of Mike's 914) picked up a pair of 914/6 5 bolt Malhe's for $40...Then the prick ( wink.gif ) stuck them on ebay and sold them for over $500US blink.gif

A nice little profit I'd say.
newdeal2
Oh man! another prick for profit guy! wink.gif
