How hot should the gear be to fit on the crank?
I have a staight cut gear, the ID matches the OEM gear.
I froze the crank in the freezer, and put the gear in the oven. Didn't work

The crappy manual says 80 C or 176 F which seems too low? I tried 200 F. I tried it again at 300 F.

Do I have to press it on a hydraulic press?

It's a 66mm 1.8 crank.

Also, the chamfered side goes towards the #3 bearing?

Over 400 degrees on the gear. I'm putting mine in a toaster oven set at 450.

400 degree oven for the cam gear, and room temp for the crank for me. Slipped right on no problem.

I was worried about messing up the tempering going over 300 F. Usually I use an oil bath on the steel when over 300 F.

My wife came home, I had to put the oil idea on hold.
What's in the oven? A gear. I suppose that has something to do with that big thing in the freezer?

I heated some vegetable oil in a pan on the stove until it started smoking, put the gear in, then went out to the garage and it dropped right onto the crank which was at room temperature. No sweat!
