I'm using a 993 electronic speedo in my LS1 conversion car. The trip and odometer suddenly stopped working. The speedo does work, so a signal is being received by the unit. Any suggestions on what to look for?

I think you gotta go inside to fix this problem?

Jim,

Thanks for the link, but that repair is for a mechanical speedo; mine is a 993 electronic one. I searched Pelican in the 993 forums, and they basically send them out to Palo Alto or NH Speedo for repair, no DIY repairs. NH Speedo (which is near me) charges top dollar (though they do have a great reputation), so I wanted to have a look-see for myself first. Otherwise, 993 stuff is cheap by comparison so I could probably buy a replacement for less than the cost to repair. Think I paid $60 for mine.

I had a 993 that did the same thing. There are some plastic gears that wear down and you have to replace them.
Check out the 993 technical forum. It pretty much covers anything and everything that can go wrong with a 993.
