Heavy into buying mode.
I have the week between Christmas & New years off. There's a solid week of car time, but I gotta have the stuff in hand.
So far:
HPH flares... (in the imortal words of the 2nd Cav at 73 easting "On the way!!")
5gal fuel tank .....otw
Ebay goodies....???? do I win? ...bout 4hrs will tell.
Still need FG trunk lids.
R35 Hoosier schlicks.
I asked for a battery for Christmas...go figure.
I'll use the 914 Ecom if anything I need is there.

Mike:
You make some great stuff. Those needle bearings are working fine as frog hair and I push them to anyone that asks.
They are THE best replacement for the rubber bushings for competition. They may be too harsh for a street car......I dunno, my car is harsh regardless.
I bought the fuel tank from Summit Racing. Those guys are a pleasure to do biddness with. They actually know their parts and there's zillions of em'....many not shown in their catalog.
Tell them your problems (assuming you know about what you need) and ...bingo...."Ayup, we got em' in stock. You'll have it in 2-3 days". Gotta love that.

thanks for the kind words....I might have to put you on my x-mas card list, it's a short list, I don't even send my mother a card, LOL
I love the Summit catalog, it's great for referance as well....I dig the idea of that small tank.....still have your headlight assemblies??

Yeah, but prolly not for much longer
It's the final move to make my car a non-streeter and I'm agonizing over it.
ORPAC (usn') is hosting the 2006 Parade.
The new AX rules have an Improved section of classes.....kind of a "run whatcha brung" legal street car class. My car slots neatly into I4 as it is now. In fact, the only mod I plan (at present) that would put me in Modified are the HPH flares....no schlicks, of course. Were we doing the hosting in 2005, the headlights would be safe, but building for class (SCCA FP)
puts me with the big dogs in Mod.....I'll get killed

ditch the motors and make 'em held up/down with a pin...no big deal as long as you don't have to operate the headlights while inside of the car

Louis packed it up (he rocks) they will arrive in two pieces..LOL 77 inches long. 32lbs.
You'll be the proud owner of a pair of rear HPH race flares (we also have the fronts.. you'll want those soon :finger2: )
Rich even drove them 30 minutes south of here to SunnyVale for you.

Brad... How much for 2 rear flares?
I've been contemplating making fiberlass one's (foam, then get the look, then make a fiberglass mold so I could reproduce em....)
But if the price is close to what im thinking... I could possibly go for em...
Sorry to get off topic... Im really good at it though!!!

I *think* JP paid 250$ apiece for them.
I have a carbon guy looking at doing them for us in CF. I'll know next week.

JP I have one of those Odyssey dry-cell batteries sitting here waiting to be installed. They are light as heck and apparently function fine for most applications. For a hardcore track event I'd bring the Optima in the tow vehicle just in case, but it seems a relatively painless way to shed 20 lbs or so.
Nice to hear Boeing is taking the full holiday break (we're only taking a few days this year)...that means I can get a little real work done while you have "garage time"

The fenders got here yesterday via Greyhound. That's next day for a huge box....55 bucks. Not as convenient as UPS (at either end), but half the price. The parts (and box, for that matter) were undamaged. Damn well packed, also.
I was under the impression that the HTH "flares" were just that.....wrong. They are an entire quarter pannel+. Now I gotta figure out how much them to use.
I'll post a pic later.

JP,
Tried to warn you about the size of them fenders....now you have to decide how much to cut....saves alot of weight if you use most of the f/g pieces....

Hi,Bill.
I'd better go back & root out them pics of your cuts. Save em' for future reference.
So here's a pic. A little more positioning and a lot more tape and we'll be good to go

All you need is a roll of duct tape and you'll be set. We called it hundred mile an hour tape when I raced boats.
Kiddin aside that looks great

Hi JP,
I've got the old race car at my home this weekend out of storage as people interested in buying it are coming by to check it out. Tomorrow I'll take some nice shots of the fenders off so that you get a close up of the carnage you can do....
I also have shots of my home made spray booth and how I painted those same flares...
I'll post those to.
Looks good....you're gonna like those things...and save up...you'll want the fronts from HPH....using spacers up front (widen) and slicks makes a HUGE difference in the slow speed stuff...you basically rail around the 180's, blip the throttle to rotate, and kick ass!
Can you tell I like flares and slicks????
