I will be bench testing my new to me 6 in a few weeks. I like to do that before pitting the engine in the car.

It will run for a short time to make sure the carbs are set properly, check for leaks, etc ...
Can that be done without the oil tank hooked?
Any advice or ideas!.....

Bad idea. I will puke whatever oil is in the system and run dry. Hook up the tank and put oil in it so it can cycle properly and keep the engine lubed.

Thanks Scotty.

It's a dry sump system.
No tank means no oil.
