At a guess, it has to do with where the square tubing was made.

The stamp is for identify the kind of steel

The 60 stands for the German (DIN) Steel Norm ST60
and means the steel strength and the kind of production smash.gif

The KH is the short form of Klöckler Humboldt Deutz a steel manufacturer in 70's
the steel production is now a part of ThyssenKrupp

KHD today produce heavy engines and others
