Thinking about installing a 3rd brake light & am looking at this light on ebay with stop and turn signal functions

Light

Any opinions on if the turn signals would work properly without additional electrical mods??

I'm using J&L Enterprises Brakelighter.
Simple install. Brake & signals.

satisfied.

Where would you mount that?

Here's the one I bought for my last build. I think Engman was selling them. If memory serves, it was from a convertible Camaro?

This time, I'm trying to find a spoiler that has one built-in.

Mine is in back window just above the back pad using the
3m adhesive dots. Wire tucks in nice,no reflection in mirror.
Guy is old school real cool. That's his car in the advert.

This is from a late 90's Blazer. Other models may work. Self contained; mounting under the rollbar makes more sense to me as it provides more elevation.

I feel any 3rd brake light is a must...

Sorry bout the flash...

I did the same as CatTripps. Vette 3rd brake light......Got mine from a salvage yard several years ago that bought a bunch of NOS. Think I paid $35 for brand new still in box!

CptTripps
Yup. That's the one.

Check a junk-yard. The ones on eBay are pretty high!

Check with SoCal Andy.. he installed just a LED strip under the engine grill so its completely hidden. Any car that is higher than a 914 (everything) can see the light when illuminated
JmuRiz
That's pretty slick AZ914....and pictures of it?

I was thinking of installing my light like Porschef has, but in the same manner as andys...on my GT style lid.

Here is the link for my 3rd brake lamp.

Mine looks like Garlands, except it's an allweather stick on 24" led from Autozone. Been on for almost 2 years, 60 miles a day in all weather. I know it's stopped trucks from running over me on the freeway. Wires through the chrome. Put in a small cut of rubber vacuum line in the metal and inserted the wires, and then a dob of clear silicone glue. Wires down and into the mesh next to the engine lid, down the wiring harness, and a double plug onto my stop light on the left brake light. Quick, simple, and easy.

Naturally, I can't find a photo of mine, but I ended up using a waterproof LED strip from superbrightleds.com.

I had to drill some holes (OH THE HORROR!) into the chrome to hide the wires, but it works great.

Yeah, I came up with that one. Bright enough to see clearly from my F-250, yet very hard to see when you are looking for it in the daytime.

I went with the Corvette light too

I did mine prior to seeing that others had installed LED strips in the targa trim above the rear window. I wished I would have waited ... headbang.gif

I've always liked how mwyatt did his. Check out his great write-up:

It's on my "todo" list.

FYI

The Vett light is also on the suburbans, and mini vans!
StratPlayer
Mounted up high so the damn suv's could see the light. They get so close to you sometimes they need to see the light.

I'm still going to do the LED strip in the targa trim on the 'BB' and on my wife's car ('Howard'). Going to do one on the 67 bug as well ... old bug tail-lights are also pretty low, you know idea.gif
Drums66
....If I did that.....it would be the LED model flag.gif

Why does that not surprise me laugh.gif

Can you make one that goes across the entire rear window that says:

"STOP, ASSHOLE ... AND GET OFF THE DAMN PHONE"

Heres my setup, $ 25 strips, only have brake function now but I think a simple mod would add turn function as well....
