Can someone show me a phototgraph of the bottom of their engine that shows the mounting of these two pieces?

I am interested in #11 and #12

Thanks

Under the push rod tubes, on top of the heat exchangers.

Driver side is on top of the shifter bar.
Passenger side is above the clutch and speedo cables.

Can they go in with the heat exchangers on?

I wondered how they fit but once I got under the car, it was pretty easy to figure out.

yes, definatly

the recess is for the cables and shift rod, just as rich said.

Yes, they go in last

Thanks everyone.

Ok. I just figured them out. They don't seem necessary, they don't seal anything...

I can't imagine they help with engine cooling.

They don't seem necessary

Yes, Porsche engineers are known for adding useless bits and pieces to their engines ...

Heat rises, look at where they are, and put them in.

They also help creat a Venturi effect to suck more air out from the engine and heads.

Put them in.

Um, #11 and #12 go on under the heat exchangers. They bolt to a couple of tabs sticking out of the side of the crankcase, and to tabs on the heat exchangers themselves.

Sorry, no pics at this point.

I put them in..... Per Rich's point, I guess they do more to relect heat off the exhaust pipes down, than duct any cooling air.

Thanks Dave, I don't need the pics anymore.

they protect the push rod tubes to some degree. they add rigidity and support for the heat exchangers other than 4 exhaust nuts and the muffler hanger. the exhaust system is quite a long run.
