this is interesting..

"his 914-6GT started life as a factory 914-6 and was converted to race car specs. It can not be regestered and driven as a regular street car in it's present condition because it's set up to race. "

or maybe a salvage title because it is two different cars welded togther (if this is indeed that car)??

sure is a lot cheaper than it was before.

looks like a decent car, I believe this is the one that has been "Stitched" together....

those mufflers hanging off the back of the car look pretty damn lame... smile.gif

If this thing started life as aFactory six Why does it have a Patrick Motorsport CrossBar Engine mount.
So the front half must be the six part ? idea.gif

OH , unless it's a 72 euro six its got a vw steering colum too. !!

no title no numbers thats bad. this isnt the 60's

I thought a friend of someone on the board got burned by buying this car? Too bad this car is still being misrepresented.
vortrex
I believe the friend is the dealer selling it.

Good morning gentlemen. Okay I want the truth. What is the deal on this car. Is it a real six or half a six? What motor? Why the salvage title? I remember seeing it for ale along time ago, thought it was sold. Looks great in the pics.
I caled the phone number and asked for the vin. Guy says you called at the wrong time and I should call the showroom. Crap customer zero service.

there is a huge old thread on this car but I believe 1/2 of it is a 914-4 and 1/2 of it is a 914-6. the dealer who has it now got ripped off and the car was exposed for what it is. now the dealer, many months later, has it listed 50% off and is saying the salvage title is because of "race prep" instead of it being two different cars.

laugh.gif Maybe that is why the front flares are steel and the rears are glass laugh.gif Sure does look good. ANd a good price.
Oh well.

My friend owns that car..

The real history of the car may never be known. It was built in a genuine (wrecked) /6 chassis, but part of orignal /6 has been replaced by part of a /4 chassis. It was rebuilt (by others) to be a 914/6GT, it has glass hoods with balsa reinforcements.

My friend is was in litigation with the guy he bought the car from.

its a nice car though
sixnotfour
That is a sad deal , Hope it works out ,
Cool looking 914-6 driving.gif
vortrex
since your friend knows it is a pieced together car, why wouldn't he mention that in the ad? I can't imagine selling someone a car and not telling them a MINOR detail like that.

If your friend is still in the midst of litigation, would it not make sense to hang onto the car until the matter was settled? If he were to win, the judge could order the car returned to the seller and the seller to return the $$ to your friend.

I'm not a lawyer, but I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express once.

should use the word "aquaintance"

We had the car in our shop, and told this guy it wasnt a GT and that something was fishy with the car. It didnt make him to happy. And he has since taken his business to another area shop.

He lists the car as a salvage title car, and here in NY they didnt dstart titiling cars until 1975 I think.

I dont know if the litigation is settled, or in whose favor the judgement was. I do know Mike is trying to get some of his money back from this car.

Anyone interested in this car should do a search back. Look for a guy posting under the name Spot.

http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?act...f=2&t=10076&hl=

The reason that car has so much /4 stuff on it is that I have all of the real /6 componants on my car.

HMM, more clues to the mystery,
Then they should at least have the VIN for the salvage title.
Even if they stamp a new VIN. cool_shades.gif

Never mind this old news wacko.gif
Red-Beard
Anything older than 1973 in NY does not have a title. They use transferrable registration. No title, no salvage title...
