Having a great afternoon drive home from my shop with the top off.
Then I start having issues getting into first gear.
This is only the second drive since I put in a new clutch cable.
First drive was the 914 Drive In / Pizza night in Newberg

Watch the video, the linkage gets bound up when I push in the clutch. Where did I get the cable and linkage goofed up? Cable adjustment?
It moves back into center position when I let the clutch out. Hmmmm.

Could be your clutch tube weld up near the shifter has broken loose.

That was my first thought. We had that happen on the other car years ago.
I seemed like it wouldn't open the clutch at all. Hmmmmm.

Almost time to put it to bed. I'll pull the carpets and run the camera in there and see whats up.

I had a similar problem. headbang.gif Clutch cable was wrapped around the shifter rod the wrong way. slap.gif

Where did it get wrapped around the shifter rod?

That's what the movement looks like. But for the life of me I can't figure it out where that would be. If I remember right, the clutch cable tube is well above the shifter.

Could be wrapped around the accelerator cable.

Can the accelerator cable get wrapped around the linkage?

The plate on the tunnel gave us access for the tube repair we did years ago on the other car. Look how far ahead of the shifter the clutch tube attachment spot is.
I still don't see where they would get tangled up.

It's got to be something simple ..................... Has to be cable related.

Just read this on a search.

I also remember one time that I had the clutch cable clevis threaded onto the clutch cable too far. This caused an interference between the two cables as the clevis couldn't pivot correctly.

Here's another picture ..............
Look's like Rob is probably right.
When you step on the pedal it would move under the linkage ......................

Rob has it. No movement should happen in the stick with clutch movement. Tube is bad.

agree.gif with Rich.
The tube moves against the shift lever every time the pedal is depressed, tensioning the cable inside.

Dont forget the weld at the firewall as well. Any tube movement can impede the movement of the stick at the bottom.
