Well, in my unending desire for a perfect running car, I was adjusting idle mixture this afternoon.. while adjusting one cylinder, I was noticing a lean popback through the intake..and also felt it on my hand between the carb and intake..

Pulled the carb off, flange is flat.. pulled off the gasket, and noticed this:Click to view attachment
the washer was between the intake flange and the gasket. It was enough to open up a rather large vacuum leak.
In my haste to get the car on the road, I must have not noticed it..
The car always kind of had a slightly rough idle, bit that was about it..nothing worse..
So, I guess this is my confession for the day..haha now it seems to idle perfectly, and run way better, plus the air bleed screw isn't half an inch out if the carb body...

Yay for eliminating the problems...

Nice find!

There's always something satisfying about finding a 'smoking gun'. Bet it runs great now.
