I recently acquired a 1974 that is 99% rust free for $5800 - but it needs new seats.

I found a guy locally selling his Carrera 4 seats, will those fit without major modifications? It's a really good deal for $450.

Not with the backpad in place. AFAIK the only thing non factory that fits in the backpad are the LeMans seats Craig sells at camp 914

GTS make seat that fit. The best fit aill always be a 914 style seat. Most other seat sit up too high at the base to fit properly.

Ok, thanks for the info. I knew it might be an issue. Any thoughts on the touring seats that Renegade offers?

Only old Koenig/Scheel, GTS lemans and the modified 914 seats (renegade or custom) work with the backpad. The gts are probably the best, with material options.

FWIW: I have the Koenig seats, luckily I'm skinny, but the lat area is still slim.

How tall are you? Most stock seats for other cars will put a 6 footer right up against the roof, if not above it. Seat width is another factor, most are far too wide.

I also have a GTS Lemans seat.
I wear a size 34 pants and it is a tight fit.

I had a set of the Koenig seats, and I had no problem getting into them. But I could not see out of the car (shaddup Slits!) with them. Honestly, I am short (I said shaddup Slits!), and I don't know how tall you are. But if you are anywhere near 5'6", you won't be able to see.

When I got mine, it had taller Porsche seats but sat WAY too tall for this car, beware.
They were also wider, so the PO had REMOVED the emergency brake handle
