Troubleshooting the oil temp gauge on my 74 D-jet revealed that the sending unit is shot. I would prefer to just replace the sender and use my stock gauge (no numbers, red indicates hot oil on gauge). Part # on the sending unit read "801/7/2.0" Research on this site suggests that they are NLA. Has anyone found a suitable replacement for the stock sender?
Thanks.
Put an ad up in the parts section for WTB. Somebody on here will have a used oil temp sender for you that works with stock gauge.
When you replace the sender, you will likely want to replace the rubber o-ring seal on the taco plate, the paper gasket and new copper crush washers. Oh, and don't over-tighten the taco plate!!!
