I believe that is true, that's why I didn't nominate the 914-6 driven by hotshot Tom O'Gorman at the 2013 Solo Nationals. Unfortunately, I don't know the owner or if he/she is a member here.

But if any car is deserving of TCOTM (track car of the month), it's this one, The 2013 NATIONAL F Prepared champion. O'Gorman figuratively bitch slaps all the naysayers that say a hopelessly outdated 40-year old car can never win a national championship.

Nominations for COTM November-December: Track Car Edition are closed.
The five nominated AND seconded cars are as follows:

1. chfrank (Chris Frank - nominated 07:48AM, 2nd 08:28AM)
2. Racer Chris (Chris Foley - nominated 06:45AM, 2nd 09:00AM)
3. naro914 (Bob's "Papa Smurf") (nominated 10:34AM, 2nd 11:22AM)
4. URY914 (nominated 11:18AM, 2nd 11:25AM)
5. brant (nominated 11:35AM, 2nd 12:36PM)

The Forum time stamp of when a nominee is 2nd'd is the impartial arbiter of the cars entering the contest. First five seconded are on the slate.

There were additional (and clearly competitive and worthy of the contest) cars nominated, including Randall's car, Tom O'Gorman's car and FourBlades IMSA racer. Should be considered for COTM Track Car 2014.

How about running a dual award: 4's compete against 4's, 6's against 6's

Bob - I keep track of all suggestions for the COTM (that's how we got Track Car edition). Will keep this for possible use in future contest.
Thanks very much for the suggestion.
914World - all suggestions are welcome to improve/refine COTM.

Wow... Not a single nomination for britain's 914. It's currently sitting in my shop and having the opportunity to see it up close .... the level of engineering and fabrication is second to none.

no...
its been a dedicated and trailer race car for about 8 years
I bought it to build a better race car and never tracked it what so ever when it was street legal.

no lights, no windows...
a 906 twin plug

vintage racing cars are supposed to look stock on the outside
winged, and cut up cars aren't legal.
hoping to run Monterey eventually... have to look and be legal for that
I'm all metal and 1826lbs with metal hoods, doors, fenders.

you should look through my build thread
it was built with documentation on this club before most of the current members were around, a lot of people haven't seen its build up

I've been vintage racing it with hmsa, cvar, rmvr in Oklahoma, Colorado, Kansas, texas, Nebraska, laguna, and san diego

I watched this build from the start. I love the fab work on the front ducts. Everyone should check out the build thread.

How very cool Papa's been nominated!!

There is a LOONG history with Papa Smurf that I would love to write about, if you're REALLY interested, the details are here:
http://www.naroescapemotorsports.com/Cars/Papa_Smurf.html

The cliff note version is: Papa started out as a stock 1974 2.0 that was Nadine's father's daily driver in Colorado. When we go it, we started doing autocross and a few DE's, until me and Lime Rock Park had a bit of a disagreement (the track won). So, off to the body shop to fix/replace all the body panels except the doors. That's the body that's on him now...
Since 2001, we've been developing him and moving the engine from 2.4/4 to 2.0/6, 2.2/6, 3.4/6 now 3.2/6 (maybe soon to be 3.0/6...stay tuned!!) Wing/splitter added in 2012, and lots of little bits here and there along the way...

Throughout his career, he has won multiple autocross series championships (men's and woman's), many class wins and podiums in PCA Club Racing, and first in class in his first (and only) SCCA Hill Climb.

right now, he is getting an oil starvation issue sorted out, but hope to really work him out in 2014!!
