Hey guys, I've to stay at the office and cover our techical hotline, just to help any customer if they would need ... but, within the last 3 hours there was not a single call ... so, I'm really bored at the moment IPB Image
and no one around me is motivated to do "bussines as usual" IPB Image

so I thought it would be a nice thing to show you a couple of pics from a 914 meeting in bavaria, back in june 2002 IPB Image

I think it would be easier for me to read your english IPB Image IPB Image IPB Image

sorry, just kidding IPB Image

now that I'm back home I've found something that might be interesting for you - this rallye plate was on my teener at 3./4. August 2002 when I joined the "Ötztal Classic":

That view of the mountains is beyond breath taking! Looks like a great place to make sure you have your brakes up to snuff. IPB Image

I didn't realize that Austria and central Europe was that beautiful. That is a great shot of two beeeeeautiful things. Teeners and steep mountain curves. Ummmmmm

Sorry man lost myself there for a moment, your car is cherry also IPB Image

I know my German is schlecht (and my English is not much better).

Awesome picture in the Alps. IPB Image

Cool Rally plate too. Sorry to say, but the modern plastic ones have little collector value. Now if you had an old metal one from the 'Coupe des Alpes' or 'Rallye Monte-Carlo' . . . .
I would be willing to make you an offer.

I have been intending to tell you before how beautiful your car looks Wolfgang...very nice...Ravenna is one of the best 914 colors.

John I wonder if we could talk the decision makers into gettig real metal rally plates for the WCC05...is there someone you know that makes them in metal still?

well, I've tons of pictures IPB Image
but, to be honest, most of'em are not from me - I'm a member of the "914 Freunde Bayern" (914 friends bavaria) and they have a cool photo archive with pics from 1992 up to present IPB Image

due to the fact that I'm no good mechanic, I decided to look for a pretty good one - originallity also was importand to me
I've bought it in May 1999, had much fun during the summer and did some easy work on it the next winter. I just dismounted most exterior and interior parts, to look for bad news. Luckily there was hardly rust. Only the battery tray was a little rusty and the area beneath the front lid seal. So I asked a professinal to fix it, changed all body rubber and gas lines, renewed all filters and cleaned every part up before I mounted it again. So that's all. This winter I'll have to change brake fluid and oil - and a friend (mechanic) will help to do little tune ups (valves, ignition, ...).

oh, think you got me wrong IPB Image
I didn't wanna sell it - I don't care about it's value - it's just the first rallye plate on my teener ever (at least as far as I know) IPB Image

but I've to say, your old metal ones look much cooler IPB Image
do you know if any of these have been on a 914-6 GT ??

Kroma is the best source for metal rally plates.
I know they could do whatever we might want.

Not as far as I know - but I guess it is possible. IPB Image

For a rally plate collector, the quest is not only to acquire the plates, but also to learn the history. The value is greatly increased if you can find proof that the plate was on a top finishing car or from an important driver. Digging up a photo is the best prize of all.

Here is Les Leston driving a Lotus Eleven in the 1958 Tour de France with the #131 plate in my collection.
