Anyone do a cost comparison between the two if one goes all out with the MSD dizzy and components needed along with it?

The DIS (distributorless Ignition System) such as the Electromotive are pricy as well. I was shocked (no pun) to see that Holley also sells an Universal DIS for a price close to 1K...and you still need a few more hundred dollars of parts and fabrication!!!!!

I'll need something that also has ignition retard which I believe the MSD offers as an added part.

Wow, for about 1K I'm getting my SDS PEFI and it comes with programable DIS dual coil ignition!

You have a ton of options with the MSD, all of it plugs in together. Get the distributor, plug it into a 6 AL for the rev limiter and add the timing retard. You use the “Boost Timing Master” if you run a blower or turbo as it automatically retards the timing as your boost increases.

What do you need the retard for? You don't have to pass smog, so you shouldn't really need the retard (unless your turbo requires it - I know next to nothing about turbos).

Yeh, the turbo needs it.

Some of the guys on the STF have done a low budget retarded dizzy I think.

Ouch......

I just figured out the MSD would cost a small fortune..

MSD Billet Alum dizzy=200
MSD Multi-spark box with boost retard=300
Spark Plug wires for billet Dizzy=50
Coil=35

total=585.00

time to look at other, cheaper options smile.gif
