Was wondering if anyone has dealt with Motor Meister on there 914-6 engines. I know it's a little pricey but for me it seems the easiest way for a shade tree mechanic like myself to do the upgrade. Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

Actually, I know a couple of guys who had MM motors. I guess they didn't last that long or take much abuse. But never had one myself. Not that the engines exploded or anything, just lost compression in a couple of the cylinders, started smoking after only a couple of years.

Like I said it's a little pricey, and I want to get the original type oil cooler that goes with it also. I spoke with the rep and there is a warranty and you can also get an extended warranty ( I don't know the price of the warranty though). It also comes with all the tin. I don't know but this seems like a good deal seeing that you would have to track down all the parts for a be correct install and you also have a warranty. I will not AXing and it will be just a weekend car for me.

If you think the MM motors and conversions are expensive, you need to re-adjust how you think about 911 engines and 914-6 conversions... They seem to be cheap, in both senses of the word. Hunt around some of the 911 boards for feedback on them some time.

MM prices are cheap....Almost too cheap.

I have dealt with them in selling my items to them but never bought anything.

Too many bad stories to trust them with thousands of dollars.

Just my opinion though...

So Dave in your opinion does this look like a good deal? I am new to all this and am looking for opinions from the people who have been around the 914 world longer than myself, which is virtually no time.

MM?........how much heart ache do you need?
I've bought parts from them, but would never consider buying an engine. Go to the Pelican 911 BBS and do a search for MM/Motor Miester.

If I upgrade to a larger 911 motor someday it will come from a wrecked car. I can't spend huge bucks right now.

Listen to me, I'm already talking upgrades and I haven't even run what I have

I bought a Bosch rebuilt distributor from them when I needed to replace my Marelli (couldn't get cap & rotor anymore).

Distributor arrived... and, well... it worked after I finished tightening and cleaning everything up. It just seemed like sloppy workmanship. But, in fairness, it worked and worked well.

As far as their engines go, I've spoken to Roy. He's a good salesman, but the reviews on Rennlist and Pelican scared me away.

I know a guy that actually has GOOD running MM motor. But even he says to run away....

For me half (okay maybe 1/3) the fun was gathering all the parts It was a good feeling getting a deal on a part and knowing you just saved yourself $400

You will also learn alot by watching and reading this and other boards. The time it takes to get all (most) of the parts is good time to research and read about other projects and problems

cheap and used parts + no attention to detail = short lifetime ...

you get what you pay for, an in MM's case, that's garbage!

I considered a MM "Quick 6 fix" when I lived in LA. I went out to their shop and checked it out.
It was interesting, but I didn't see many new parts, I think there was a lot of cleaning and reusing going on.
I asked around and heard lots of horror stories, so I went another way.
