first, I slide my right leg in and nail the seat with my ass. Soon after that, I swing
my left leg in and then bungie cord my cock to the right side of the ashtray, so it won't get caught in the steering wheel.

speaking of getting in and out of the 914. im in the middle of a build, and the topic of seats came up today. im a little concerned about going with high bolstered seats. i dont want it to be a super PIA getting in and out of it. i have almost ruled out putting in a roll cage because im worried about getting in and out of it.

However I have to do it, its easier than ingress and egress from my pal's '86 Corvette and a '92 Miata I used to have.
And besides, the hard part is getting UNDER it which I have to do almost as much.
There's hope. The weather is getting nice and the top is coming off soon.

So no one has posted what to do if you are like me: short, fat, and have bad knees. So in the unlikely event that there is someone on this site who is not 6ft+ and skinny, I'll share my experiences .....
Getting in, I agree with everyone. Getting out, I have found the best way is to lean your head and torso as far over the passenger seat as you can (almost laying down), then slip both legs out the door, sit up and get out.

Right foot in, mash my ass against the back of the seat and slide down using my right leg to lower me onto the seat, then left foot in.
Getting out I put my hand on the top of the rocker, left leg out and lift out with my arm and leg.
I'm 6'2" and this works in my 944 too. This is a technique I learned from Magnum PI.....

I've never thought about how I get in/out...I just get in and out however I feel. I didn't realize you had to have a technique. I guess it depends on where you're getting in/out (tight garage, flat ground, curb, etc.)

I definitely get out by putting my left palm onto the sill and swing legs out. Getting in to any sports car is the same in principle: it is an act of faith, mainly involving aligning the back of the driver with the back of the seat and letting gravity take over. The faith being the landing will be OK. You moderate the fall with your back and maybe a leg in the foot well. I have noticed that this free fall into the seat is quite unsettling for many. They don't have the faith.
