.SOLD

For Sale; 1973 914 with D-Jet, that has been stored for most of the past twelve years in an airplane hangar in the California desert. The car was originally silver but had been repainted yellow. The car was originally an air conditioned car, however a previous owner removed the air conditioning. Last year we decided that it was time to get it out of storage and “running again”. We have started enjoying the car, however a “barn find” 1962 Porsche 356 has shown up, that we want to pursue. Our need for space is somebody’s lucky break! The car is in excellent shape.

As part of the “getting it running again”, the engine was completely rebuilt as a 2056 using top quality parts including:
• New Pistons and cylinders
• Raby 9590 Camshaft and Kit
• New Aluminum Timing Gear
• Raby 8216 Heavy Duty Rocker Shafts
• Raby 8220 Rocker spacer Kit
• Raby 8256 Heavy Duty 8MM Rocker Nuts
• Manton Cromoly Pushrods (these require a Zero Valve Lash clearance)
• OEM Porsche 911 Swivel Foot Adjusters
• 1.7 Rocker Arms for the Swivel Foot Adjusters
• The GC Case was Precision Line Bored to plus .50MM (0.020)(Round to within +/- 0.0002”)
• The Cylinder spigots were machined flat and equal to within 0.0025”
• The press-in plugs were replaced with threaded AN pipe plugs in the oil galleys
• The Main bearing journals were ground to 0.25MM (0.010) undersize
• The Rod Journals were fine and polished still standard spec.
• 2.0 Liter Heads were remanufactured by Len Hoffman @ HAM, INC.
o Remanufacture includes;
 All new Valve Seats
 All new Valve Guides
 All new Valves
 All new Valve Springs
 All new Retainers
 All new Keepers
 All new Hardware except for Intake Studs
o The heads were set up specifically for the Raby 9590 Camshaft
o The heads were upgraded to 8MM Rocker Studs
• Type I VW oil pump mod
• New Bosch starter
• The Cooling fan was replaced with a unit with no cracks or missing fins.
• The TIN was powder coated Light Grey, it looks really clean compared to black.

All of the D-Jet components have been carefully inspected and tested according to factory specifications where available. The Fuel injectors were taken to Doctor Injector to be cleaned and flowed, I was allowed to observe this process. The Main D-Jet Harness was rebuilt using all factory wiring none of which was brittle or hard. As the harness was inspected it was placed inside high quality high temp shrink sleeve like used in racing applications. The only things not present in the D-Jet system are the overrun valve, and the Cold Start injector. The Thermostat was replaced with a really low time unit that has performed flawless in use. The items left off the D-Jet System have shown no problems in driving the car even in weather that is in the 30 Degree range. A former Porsche mechanic told me that those items were problematic originally and the car would run fine without them.

The ignition uses a factory distributor with a Pertronix unit. New cap and rotor and Bosch 09003 ignition wires.

The Transmission was gone through and resealed, all the gears were fine. Filled with Swepco 201 gear oil. The CV joints were inspected, cleaned, reassembled, and reinstalled.

The Fuel tank was removed and cleaned with new lines and Tangerine racings stainless steel fuel line kit was installed. The fuel pump was replaced with a new Bosch 251 906 091 Single inlet, single outlet unit that just returns the fuel from the pressure regulator to the tank like the later cars did. All hose was 30R9 Fuel injection hose of the correct size and the injector connections are the molded 90 degree 30R9 Fuel injection hose from Tangerine racing.

The car has 5 polished Fuchs wheels, including the spare.

The stock heat exchangers were in excellent, actually like new condition, and connect to a brand new Triad West Performance 914 2.0 liter Solo II Exhaust muffler.
The brakes have been properly vented in the rear and all fluid drained and changed to new D.O.T. 4 grade fluid.

The door gaps stay the same while being jacked up, the hell hole looks just fine. The bottom of the car has no real issues. This is a great running/driving 1973 914 2.0 liter car. As with all 914s this is not a new car and that is not being implied. Thank You for the opportunity to post here.
