What is the largest tire you can shove under a 140# springed 914?

Does anyone know what offset, on a 8'wheel, is centered in the wheel wells?

I'd like to put the biggest wheels and tightest tires a 914 can stand. Even if some modification is nessasary. Saw these Saleen wheels that would look hot on the car.

You will have to change your bolt pattern as the Porsche has 5x130mm bolt pattern. As for biggest tires you can use, it depends on brand. 205 or 195 are most likely in the rear. Do a search as your question has been discussed here manny times. Those wheels look nice, though.

I figure at least a 18' with a 195/30/19 or there abouts.

I can add an Empi 4 to 5 x 4.75 Chevy. It adds and inch to the offset.

Bidding time untill 911SC stuff can go on.

Those wheel look nice. I hope you can figure out a way to make them fit. IPB Image

As far as the tires you are considering IPB Image
I have a set of the Toyo T1-S on my car and I love them.

The widest rims I've ever heard of anyone fitting on a 914 were 7". And that was with 195s or 205s. The 205s on many cars (on wide rims like that) require pulling the fenders out a bit. If you put 195s on 7" rims, the tire mounting guys will absolutely hate you...

Speaking of hate, I really hate the four-to-five adaptors. I don't think they're safe enough. Others have disagreed...

I agree Dave. 911 setup is best. But to bide time. Chevy wheels are more common than anything most likely. Empis are cheap. God would have to ride with ya for awhile, until someone hands you the bottom of a 911 for your birthday.

What do ya think God a year, maybe two, howabout until the rubber is gone.

You will have to run at least a 205 tire. 195s are only made up to 16 inch sizes. I am currently putting 17 inch boxter s alloys on my car. You could probably run a 18x7 wheel 35mm offset with a 205 40 18 tire .

normally a 205 width tire on a 7" wide rim is the widest you can install on a bone stock fendered car in the rear...the fronts have more room, I had at one time 8" rims with 225s on the front with no real issues...I could only install the same 8" rims on the back when I cut, pulled and welded my rear fenders....you can pound out the fenders to fit as well, but nothing will just bolt-on and be that wide.

with flares you can go as wide/tall as your budget allows IPB Image

some people have reported that they can run a 215 in the rear on a stock fendered car, but tires are differenet from one manufacture to another...
