Just found out the MPS on my '74 has a leak .


Also, the ECU has partnumber 0280100073 so I'm looking for a '73 replacement MPS with partnumber -073 since I understand that's the only MPS that works with a '73 ECU.

Does anyone have one available and willing to ship to the Netherlands?

I don't have an MPS to offer you, Wilbert, but curious as to the build date of your car.

Is it an early '74? ... just wondering if the '073' components were carried over to the next model year for a short period of time

Let be check the part number I am pretty sure I have a couple. I am running a 73 2056 so I can verify operation for you.

My car has chassisnumber 4742901428. According to the number stamped in the rear trunk, Karmann started work on the body in week 35 (of 1973). I think that would be a relatively early '74. By the way, it also has instruments with silver centers.

I once sold a good tested MPS and after I shipped it across the country it leaked. The diaphragms get brittle after years of flexing.

Is the 073 a typo? I have two 043s which are 1974s and 1973s are 037s. So I can send you an 043 but I don't know of an 073.

You're correct, I made a type error. According to the rennlist as mentioned by Boxsterfan, the '73 ECU works with a MPS -037.

The thing is, when having the FI checked, the guy doing the checks, remarked that there seems to be something odd about the ECU.

Afterwards, I found out it was indeed a '73 ECU. But, funny enough, it had been running with a '74 MPS for I don't know how long.

But, if you are willing to sent a -043 MPS, I'd be really helped/happy. Please let me know what conditions and how to arrange shipment. I'm new to this and I don't know how this works but you can sent me a message with contact information? If you can gine me your telephone number, I'll call you.

There's something else. It must be the most early '74 existing.

When trying to get a licence for the car, I had to do a lot of explaing, trying to convince the official that this car was built in 1973 but is modelyear 1974.

In the end, he bought it and put may 31, 1973 as built date on the papers.

Your VIN will indicate the year. 47x290yyyy. The "x" being the year. Mine is a 74 with 4742905987. My chassis number indicates the car was built late October 1973.

I have a car that would normally be a MY '65 in the US, but it was originally sold and registered as a '64 in Germany. The '64 designation followed it into the US

Is this giving you tax advantages? New regulations here in Holland now say that cars that are not 40 years old, need to be payed 25% tax for and are not allowed to be driven in December, January and February. Or you'd have to pay 100% tax.

These rules were going to be effective at the time I went to registrate my 914, which was in 2013.

No tax advantages, but '64 was the first year production of this car, even though they weren't actually imported into the US until '65 (as a model-year '65).

The ROW does recognize it as a model-year '64, which adds certain value points (to a select group of people who are associated with these particular model cars).

Back when I first acquired the car, there wasn't a lot of interest devoted to the model-year ... but over time (almost five decades now), the 'first year' cars appear to have appreciated in value quite a bit (only 232 were produced in 1964).

As I understand it, all Euro model 914 used the 73 FI setup with the 037 MPS. MittleMotors in Germany had quite a few of them when I was there years ago. Is this a Euro 914 sans the front side marker lites?
